Nuti Ostrich Frame Clutch

I am in love with this little clutch, it is just too adorable. I find myself with all these oversized clutches, and I am used to them at that size now so I forget that clutches used to be teeny tiny. This is 9" x 6" which to me is like a coin purse, which this does look like, but nice for petite women who can give this little thing it's own place, it is dainty and feminine. The gray ostrich with the shiny silver frame is so sharp and clean. Nothing more chic than that! And of course it is Nuti so every detail is meticulous and made to last forever. At Saks Fifth Avenueicon for $1595.

Father's Day Bags Fit for a Snob

I've been getting a lot of man bag requests. To be honest, I've kind of given up because man bags are for the most part really boring and the ones that are actually cool and exciting are apparently too feminine. But for Father's Day, I went through them all and came up with some less boring ones that are super functional and others that are quite amazing that are even marketed as man bags. I mean, that is pretty much the most fun aspect of man bag shopping, being baffled by the inappropriateness some of these are for men.

My favorite of all the ones I've seen is this Varvatos Calfskin Tote for $1595. It has an urban edge and is rugged enough for even the manliest of manly men. I don't know about carrying this every day but for weekend, travel and even for work, this is one uber cool bag.

The conventional option is this Prada Saffiano Tessuto Toteicon, $1495, for everyday office use. It isn't as boring as a briefcase and has all the niceties of a Prada so for the straight edge dad, this is still quite stylish.

Ungaro by Esteban Cortazar

I read at Bryan Boy (he says he's so gay he sweats glitter-- it's true, I hugged him at Marc Jacobs and had glitter all over me for DAYS!) that Esteban Cortazar will be parting ways with the house of Ungaro due to disagreements of marketing strategies (I'd take a leap if Lindsay Lohan was offered up as my muse, too). Such a shame as his Fall 09 bags are really kick ass. Whereas he showed a tough girl edge for Fall, Summer at Ungaro is all about feminine style. I am drooling over these bags with soft bow and studded detail. Who knew bows and studs could look so good together!?!? I'm leaning towards black (after years of rainbow colored bags I'm back to black) but there is a delicious violet, a classic camel and a soft baby blue-- seriously something for everyone. At $1,450 it's also a helluva a deal. At Ungaro.com

Hopefully the talented Cortazar will start his own brand. I'll be first in line to buy!

Ask the Snob: Jimmy Choo Odette

chooodette.jpgOne of our readers sent me a tweet on Twitter recently: "What is the "It" black bag for fall? I need one that can be used for work AND play!"

I gave her several suggestions before discovering this beauty from Jimmy Choo. The Odette bag has all the elements of an 'it' bag while still retaining a classic feel in black grainy calf leather. It has top handles with silver rings and a Y-strap detail on front with a subtle sprinkling of studs that is on trend without rendering you a fashion victim.  It actually reminds me of something YSL circa Tom Ford years would have come up with!  Totally acceptable for work, the unique stirrup style strap makes it edgy chic for play as well.

The Odette is the coolest bag I've ever seen from the House of Choo!  It's from the Fall collection and will not be available until September at Bergdorf's for $2,095 (you can pre-order!).

Look-a-Likes: Burberry VS Proenza Schouler

I saw this Burberry bag and was like, "Oh good, Burberry is making cuter bags" and then I realized why I like it so much. It reminds me of the Proenza Schouler PS1. But now that I see them side by side, it is obvious who has got "it" and who doesn't. Seeing both together, I would never get the Burberry, it is so stodgy and stiff. This just proves how subtle and gray the line is between hip and dud. Koodos for Burberry for trying but it's back to the drawing board. Burberry convertible satchelicon for $995 at Saks Fifth Avenue and PS1 suede satchel at Barneys for $1595.

Yves Saint Laurent Medium Leather Bag

This has all the coolness of YSL but it isn't exactly making me swoon. All the hardware and excessive details aren't bad, it's just a bit much for me. There is a very urban feel that paired with a casual style on a young girl would be very chic indeed. I don't know, I am losing interest in YSL, could my intense love for them go dim so quickly and easily? They really need to come up with something really kick ass for me to come back but asking them to do an entire collection with the likes of the Muse and Marjorelle is a tall order. Or is it? I haven't lost faith entirely. Yves Saint Laurent Medium Leather Bag

botkiervenicesatchelblack.jpg If you missed our live chat with Monica Botkier this morning don't worry. We will have the entire transcript up this afternoon for your perusal! Monica shared with us her story of balancing life as a female entrepreneur, designer, photographer and mother to two bouncing babes!

We will also have sneak peeks at many of Monica's favorite Fall bags later. But to satisfy your craving immediately, we highly suggest picking up the Venice Satchel. It's rocker chic at its very best! Monica told us in our virtual personal appearance chat: "I am so overwhelmed by the reaction to Venice. This was a group for SS09 that has just gone crazyy so we are bringing it back for SS10 in January. I felt like I needed to get in touch with my inner bad ass and feel cool so I wanted a lot of zips and tassels..."

Oh yes, we'd like to get in touch with our inner bad ass as well!   The Venice Satchel is available in three delicious colors for $595 each.  At Botkier website and at Shopbop!

Mulberry Mitzy Tote

I'm just basically in love with this mint green color but for a summer bag, it is super functional and cute. It is not very Mulberry like but in a good way. The textured pebbled leather is great for wear and tear, which means you can beat it up without worry. The shoulder strap comes in handy if you need it although as always, it ruins the look. At first I was annoyed with the rivets but it does add some much needed detail. You can also fold in the top and convert it into a smaller bag but it is totally pointless since I imagine the interior of the bag is now full of the top portion of the bag. Nice try as a convertible bag but like most convertible bags, it does not convert into anything functional. There are also side zips to expand the gusset. At Net-a-Portericon for $625.

Michell Obama Wears VBH

Michelle Obama is not one for the obvious when it comes to fashion. She is understated and tasteful so appropriately, she shows up in New York in a VBH Ballerina Clutch in Colbalt Blue Satin ($1500). She contrasts her LBD with this bright clutch that totally pops. Who knew she was such a Bag Snob? I mean, only those in the know can appreciate what VBH is all about - quality, simplicity and subtlety but oh-so stylish!
