I am for sure digging on this bag in a big way. Although I don't know if this alone will bring Chloe back from oblivion. It is still trying to be a Phoebe Philo design, this is the slouchier and softer (as in leather) Edith. Original it is not, it's a patchwork of the Edith, the Muse Two and Mulberry. But even so, I like the relaxed vibe and slight edge. The zipper bottom compartment is a bit odd but the uncomfortable feel makes it interesting, I want to keep looking at it. That loose belted tie is haphazard but cool! The vermillion red is the perfect shade for the most versatility in a bag. Not too bright but will definitely turn heads. Pre-order at Bergdorf Goodman for $1960.

Once every couple of years, there comes a Dior that I actually want! And this one isn't a concession, like in some altered reality if I was forced to buy a Dior and had to choose one. Looking at all the bags out there for Fall, this is one of my top 3 choices. I find the hand stitching of the cannage detail so interesting because they are slightly irregular and they're 3D. The detail is achieve through pin tucking the leather so it is actually a part of the bag rather than applied, so the intersections of the lines are a bit off. You would think this is a flaw but it is done so well that it is actually a selling point. I mean, that's a fine line but the result here is clearly on the positive side. Even the shape is just slightly off tradition, it almost looks like a classic old lady frame, but the hour glass curves at the sides totally perks it up. The pearl gray is not only divine, it shows off the cannage details beautifully. All the hand crafted details make this bag kind of expensive though, at Neiman Marcus for $2350.
Great bag by any standard but this is super affordable so it is my Frugal Snob pick of the month! You get the all around hobo with the perfect touch of detail in the braided handles. Simple hardware, all leather and amazing colors - all for $330! What more do you want? A big designer label? Well, you're in luck because Tano is certainly making a name for itself and is known to be the hipsters choice for trendy bags. And you know, real hipsters are starving artists and can't afford Hermes =) The purple is nice and pretty, nothing too shocking and is actually great for year round use. The gray of course is more versatile, and yes, gray is the new black. I know, you've heard but it bears repeating because gray is an exceptionally important color this Fall. At Neiman Marcus for $330.
QUIZ HAS ENDED. Answer: Dolce & Gabbana. Winner: Kelly Tang
Super hot bag! Eva Mendes has been using this non-stop, we featured her on Couture Snob where she had the same bag. If you want it, you have to do your homework on this one. So, who do you think the designer is? The details make the bag like the whip-stitching on the handles and tabs that do nothing but look good at the top. The hardware might require some brawn but the bag is mostly canvas to offset the weight. If you guess correctly you will get a nice Bag Snob prize! This one might be tough so I will give you a hint, pay attention to the cheetah print lining. Also, this is not a designer we normally covet but this bag is exceptional.

On lazy days when I just barely get myself to get out of my pajamas, I throw on my Current/Elliot Boyfriend Jeans
($245). But to make it convincing that I am actually going for easy chic, I need an equally casual unstructured bag. Kempt just came out with their Pure Tote ($400), it is a simple tote with no lining and is completely floppy. The leather is slightly distressed, like a saddle, with a loose tab closure for the ultimate in effortless chic. You can wear any top (I've been wearing blousey tops with my boyfriend jeans) but make sure you have fabulous shoes on. Even with flats, do not go flip flop, or you will suddenly look sloppy. With the killer Jimmy Choo Proud elaphe pumps
, $860 (my new Fall shoes, have to have them!), you're out in a flash looking good enough for a hot date.
Miu Miu has been like, "Eh, whatever", for a couple of seasons. But this made me sit up and take notice! It is not super extraordinary but the quilting and the aubergine is good enough to eat! But what's really exciting is that it is a messenger and a clutch. I mean, the giant clutch trend is a bit out but clutches are all bigger now because of it so this proportion is perfectly acceptable (one caveat, you have to be tall to pull this off). A lot of clutches come with a strap and become a shoulder bag but this comes with a super long strap that can go cross body. Yeah, it's not exactly a "messenger", to me messengers are more square but the dimension on this (17" x 8") make it into a real shoulder bag instead of a make shift one. I also love the little flap, it makes the large size less overwhelming. And the price is great, at Net-a-Porter for $695.
Is it back to school already? Horray! Don't you miss your friends? But more importantly, aren't you craving learning and enlightenment? Personally, I'm glad I'm not in school anymore, all that lecturing and reading makes me sleepy =) I know you glam rock girls out there are in desperate need of a school appropriate bag that will take you through the day in style and with a happy smile. Nothing does that better than awesome metallic. The gunmetal is the top choice but the metallic black definitely has enough glitter for the more subdued. It has a loop around belt closure which looks refinely relaxed when left open and dangling. A bit of warning, it is quite small, at 8" x 10.5" you are not going to fit your entire locker in there. And don't think I'm not considerate of a student's budget, you can thank me later for the uber affordable price tag of $275!! At Saks Fifth Avenue.
So much nicer when it's cheap. Isn't that so true? OK, maybe not "nicer" but definitely more enticing. And when you can at least cock your shoulder in mild approval and it's a couple hundred bucks, I say, it is a good buy! That's not the biggest sell on this bag but like I said, I was shaking my head side to side in midst of a decision until my eyes gleamed the 50% OFF price of $274, then I was like "YES!! I do like it!!". The interesting fan shape and muted violet with the contrasting dark gray handle is truly not bad at all. The sides can fold in or be opened up for a full tote look. It opens up completely to reveal the striped fabric lining. If you are a Frugal Snob, an all leather bag chalk full of designer details and quality is your best bet. Even on the tightest budget, you can switch things around and do this. And for 2 days, July 22nd and 23rd, take an extra 20% off Sale Items with code SALE20 at Shopbop. Ends July 23rd at 11:59 PDT.. Which means, this bag is only $219!!!
I'm kind of on the fence about this clutch. My initial thoughts are that it is childish and contrived. A spiral notebook looking clutch? Ehh, too much of a shtick for YSL. Then thinking back of the zipper clutch, the same could be said about that but it was a wildly huge hit, especially among celebs. But this definitely does not have the same edge. It is an ingenious twist on hinging the flap, nobody has ever done this before and it works well - it flips completely back so when open, it stays open. I do like the proportions, it is 9 1/2" wide so you get the full effect of what this clutch is about, if it were tiny it would look stupid. And the price is just right, for a YSL at $395, it might be the flash you need in a black clutch that retires at the end of the season. At Saks Fifth Avenue.
When a bag is prominently displayed in our favorite movies (like in The Proposal, Sandra Bullock with a Prada), we take notice and decide that we really love the bag (or not) after seeing it in action for 2 hours, how it looks on the shoulder, swinging through the streets and sitting on the lap. Unfortunately, by the time the movie comes out, the bag is already last season's story and nowhere to be found.
I am already certain that that will be the case for the Givenchy Eclipse Hobo on Rachel McAdams in, Morning Glory, set to release in 2010 with co-star Harrison Ford about a struggling morning TV show. I LOVE this bag in patent leather but the slouchy shape crinkles up the patent too much, making it crease and wrinkle in bad ways, but this cut leather version is perfection. It is not stamped to look like snake but rather is cut so it has the texture and feel with curled edges. It is perfectly uniform so you can tell it is not real snake, which I prefer, it is just for effect. Be ahead of the curve and get this bag now, at Barneys New York for $1675.
