I don't know what to make of Givenchy's Melan Bag. It's at once interesting and bizarre. Rambo-esque bullet chain with a Mondrian-ish shaped bag tossed together with large links even and chains. Though strange looking, I am not repulsed by it. The color is great and the brushed goldtone hardware shows up beautifully against it. I just think it got too ambitious in the design room and didn't know what it wanted to be when it grew up. Its one redeeming quality is that the strap is removable (thank goodness!) and then you just have an origami style (and very large clutch) $1,775 at Barneys.com

I am strangely attracted to this funky day glo two tone python bag from Pauric Sweeney.  It's so kitsh it's actually cool.  I feel like I am back at a rave club (if you are too young to remember rave clubs, email me and I can explain more in colorful detail) circa 1993.  I can even hear the heart thumping ear splitting techno music as I gaze at it.  And this thing is huge at 40cm which makes me wonder if there is a disco ball inside.  €1,265 at Browns Fashion.  What do you think?  Snob or Slob?

A few of you brought up the subject of animal print bags and were indignant at the use of pony skin in bags lately. So I can't wait to read your thoughts on a Leopard print bag made of pony skin! I am not a leopard girl and have always thought it a bit tawdry but lately am pining for a lippi cat short swing coat--shhhh, don't tell the activists! But leopard bags? Like the Lanvin Draped Frame bag above made of Pony hair in leopard print-- I would never carry this. I might stick it in my office for a bit of naughty retro glam on my chaise as a pillow though. $2,950 at Barneys.com But what do you snobbers think? Snob or Slob?

This Gucci heir is not cashing in on her famous surname, well, not directly anyway (And if she did, she'd get sued by the Gucci group. Oh, and her mother is in jail for arranging a hitman to kill her father. The Gucci tale is one of murder and madness!). Alessandra Gucci's line of handbags, called AG Limited Edition has created quite a stir in the fashion industry because of her name but they will be remembered for their unique designs. I am not a big fan of over embellished bags without much function but I do appreciate the unique design of the one above-- it is the perfect bag for Fancy Nancy in her chauffeured Bentley! There will only be 99 AG Limited bags made in three styles and three colors, wholesale price is steep at $6,665 to $10,134 (meaning retail will be a bit more than double that). What do you think? Will the line sink or swim, in other words: Snob or Slob?

I am conflicted over the Ruffled Clutch bag from Prada for Fall. It's not the most hideous thing I've seen but something about it is really odd. I almost want to like it because I think Miuccia is so creative and amazing and the ruffles are kind of delicate and pretty in a strange way but at the same time-- it reminds me of Dumbo ears which is just too hard to ignore. I feel like the bag is going to fly off at a moment's notice! There are also matching shoes, in case the flaps on the bag are not enough to allow you to float into the open air, click these suckers together and I bet you end up where ever you want to. By the way, Prada ready to wear kicks ass this season-- but none of which I would wear with this. Prada Bag $1,695, Shoes $895 both at Saks.com. This is a bag you'll either love or hate, so I want to know-- Snob or Slob?

I can't believe I found a Fendi bag that didn't make me cringe! I was a Fendi fanatic in the late '90s thanks to the baguette but the last few years the brand has hugely disappointed me. Other than the ready to wear which I love, I generally stay away from Fendi when it comes to bags. But for Fall, the Secret Code has my attention. It's not a great bag but I do find parts of it intriguing. The handle is alien-ish modern and the stones, is that some sort of secret code from the Kaiser? Would be really cool if you had to punch in a code on the stones to make the flap open. The gold hardware actually is a bit reminiscent of YSL as is the stitching but other than that, it is a decent bag. The shape is fairly classic, perhaps this is the new baguette for the millennium, or the Wall-E age (have you seen? Love that movie!) At Neiman Marcus. What do you guys think of the Fendi Secret Code? Snob or Slob?

While in Paris, I spent a lot of time at the Givenchy boutique and I was besotted by all the cool bags, shoes and ready to wear that I had never seen in the US before. I am waiting for their PR to send me those images but in the meantime I stumbled upon this Saddle bag with Alligator harness...er strap. Is it me or do the straps look almost X-rated to you too? Seriously, the first thing that came to my mind was the get up that the Gimp from Pulp Fiction wore.The harness straps are confusing and I don't know how one is supposed to carry it. I guess they were trying to be interesting but sometimes it's best to just leave a simple saddle bag alone. And uh, it's quite expensive for a plain bag with a scrap of alligator stuck on the strap don't you think? Is it any surprise I did not see this in Paris? I always say the buyers of the Paris boutiques pick the best bags and I think this proves my point. $2,295 at Barneys New York. What do you guys think? Snob, Slob, or Gimp?

I wasn't sure what this was supposed to be but a ruched tube top gone bad at Dior seems to be the inspiration of this mess they call the Hermitage bag. It has been a long and dry spell at Dior since the uber popular saddle bag. Even SJP shunned its bags in the SATC movie-- though the Dior extreme shoes she wore throughout were absolutely brilliant (which I also have in black but I saw them on eLuxury way before the movie came out!). This bag may have the deceiving silhouette of a lady like top handle bag but is in fact 16.5" x 11.75"-- which is huge yet they call this the medium size! Galliano is one of my faves when it comes to ready to wear and haute couture but Dior bags of late? Not a chance. Dior Hermitage bag $2385 at eLuxury. But maybe I am too harsh on this thing, what do you think of this super ruched Hermitage shopper? Snob or Slob?

I appreciate designers going for edgy and different but sometimes when they are at loss for creativity they go off on a tangent that is not creative, just weird. Tell me if you disagree but this bag would have been better left alone as a plain ol' green (if a bit cheap and plastic looking) bag. Adding the buffed metallic leather to only one patch furthers the cheap look of the bag (though $1,595 is not cheap by any means!). They should have gone all the way and added the distressing to the entire bag, at least that would make sense. It also looks like an afterthought, I don't think they set out to design a patch of tumors in the middle of the bag. I don't even mind the pukey almost minty green color with Mulberry signature hardware on each side, but the patch ruins it for me! Mulberry Milton Bag $1,595 at Net a Porter. What do you guys think? We are always looking for interesting bags and when I came across this Celine clutch in patent leather, I got a tiny bit excited (I said a tiny bit). Upon closer inspection, however, I am not so excited. The brightly colored turquoise patent leather is fun and of the moment but what is with the tan leather trim? To give it some sort of rodeo rustic flavor? A bit of it would have sufficed, thank you very much. As in just around the top flap if you must and no need for the strange long flap nor the multiple leather strips up and down the front and back. I usually enjoy juxtaposing contrasting skins and colors but in this case, it falls short. What do you guys think of the $990 Celine Patent leather clutch, ? Snob or Slob?
