Katherine Heigl, Tod's Girelli Pochette at The Ugly Truth

katherineheigl.pngKatherine Heigl is one of my favorite actresses, she has such natural beauty! I was really excited when I was invited to The Ugly Truth premiere, not only because I love her but these are my kind of movies. She was absolutely stunning!! She wore Lanvin from Fall '09 with metallic Louboutin pumps and the most amazing Tod's clutch, a gray snakeskin Girelli pochette. So amazing to contrast the nude with gray.

And can I just tell you, Gerard Butler is freaking HOT! He's like dirty hot, you don't want to marry him but you'll sleep with him =) I was expecting a typical romantic comedy with all its trappings (I love them!) but this was surprisingly different. Sure, the it ends as expected, has funny girl / boy bantering and gratuitous nudity (Eric Winter shows his bare butt in the movie and the Sony executive who I got the tickets from asked him at the after party if he waxed for that scene! She thought she would get fired but didn't care, she needed to know. The answer, NO!! You have to see the movie just for that scene especially knowing he has a naturally smooth butt).

The things Gerard Butler says in the movie are borderline shocking and very male-centric but hilarious. Which means, you're boyfriend/date/husband will enjoy it. Katherine Heigl was great as usual, and whatever people say about her pain in the ass behavior on Grey's Anatomy, her entire cast was there to support her (I saw her chatting with Justin Chambers, T.R. Knight and Kate Walsh). Definitely must see!!

LV AD.jpg

Last night Louis Vuitton hosted an event at the American Museum of Natural History in honor of the 40th anniversary of the lunar landing. I was pumped because the invite said that Buzz Aldrin was going to be there (how cute is he along with Jim Lovell and Sally Ride in the new LV ad campaign!?). Well, Aldrin was just as adorable in person! I also spotted Whitney Port who was sporting an austere double french braid hairdo, Estelle in the brightest neon pink pumps I've ever seen (and sporting fall 2009 LV), and of course, Lance Bass was there. I was standing right next to him for a few minutes and, fittingly enough, he couldn't stop talking about space, astronauts, and the exhibit that we were surrounded by (NASA original photographs, antique space toys and sculptures by Jean Larivière, and the Louis Vuitton "Malle Mars" were all set-up). The best sighting of the night however? My rabbi! I was with a longtime friend of mine at the event and she says to me "Rabbi Schneier is behind you." Obviously I thought she was kidding -- nope! I turned around and none other than my rabbi, accompanied by the French Ambassador to the United States, was giving me a kiss on each cheek and telling the ambassador that he's known me since I was "this small!" O man. What a night!

Oscar Party at Mr. Chow

Leeza Gibbons, Olivia Newton-John and David Foster hosted a party at Mr. Chow to benefit the Make a Difference network on Oscar night. I was honored to be invited by Glam Media to help make a difference and also to have fun while doing so! The night began with a lovely dinner during the Oscar viewing and was followed by a tented party in the back. There was free flowing Patron luges, which accounts for my headache, and performances by Olivia Newton-John and Michael Buble but it was Charise who brought down the house. She is the 16 year old Oprah discovered and if you have not heard her sing, go to You Tube immediately and prepare to sob. Of course all the A-Listers were at Vanity Fair but this party got its fair share of celebrities including Jessica Biel who showed up in Oscar de la Renta right off the runway. When I saw her I was like, that gown looks so familiar and then I realized I saw it just last week in New York!! Amazing choice, she should have worn this to the show instead of the Prada. Also in attendance were Hilary Duff, Paris Hilton, Laila Ali, Mario Lopez, Alfonso Ribeiro (who has not aged well but was entertaining to watch as he did his Michael Jackson dance), Mellisa Gilbert, Rex Lee and Forest Whitaker, who I had the pleasure to meet. I wore the most amazing 3 piece gown by Eduaro Lucero who made me look slim and sexy! And my VBH Manila Stretch Shiny Alligator clutch was insanely fabulous, it was a deep burgundy red with a black satin trim. Jump for a picture.

I was at Mr. Chow's Oscar party (coverage of that later) which I am actually still recovering from so excuse the delay of this story (and yesterday was my birthday so there is a lot to recover from, mainly my age!!). I am happy to see that people are paying more attention to the clutch and using ones that make their own statement rather than blending in and resorting to the beaded box miniaudiere, although that is still the majority of what we saw. It need not be said that Meryl Streep is the most loved actress of our time, not just for her talent but for her grace and effortless beauty. She has the perfect clutch to set off the tonal Alberta Ferretti chiffon gown. She said she wore this because she put it on and it fit. I am sure there was more to it than that!! Angelina Jolie looked happy and was quite chatty on the red carpet! I loved loved loved her striking contrasting emeralds she wore with the sleek black Elie Saab and she topped this off with the Lana Mark Cleopatra, whom she resembles doesn't she? Everyone's favorite comedian is way hotter than she portrays herself to be, the Zac Posen champagne gown is deceptively modest but the plunging neckline and hip hugging curves gives it all up. She chose the VBH Martini clutch in laminated silver python, which shows that she is the animal on the inside that we've always suspected. Such a fabulous clutch!!
