Wow-- what a great shout out from USA Today! My hubby was at the airport this morning and saw this with three of his attorneys. He was quite proud-- called me and read it to me (well, okay-- I asked him to look out for it because I was told it would be in there). But still, how cute is he?
Thanks to all the fabulous readers and friends who attended our party last night. The evening was a smashing success! We had such a huge turn out we ran out of champagne three times! Luckily, Steven Mathieu-- the Retail Manager At Large for Oscar de la Renta replenished quickly each time. A big thank you to our our friends from the press who came in support of the event-- Rachel of WWD and Jennifer Chan of Fashionweek daily and of course the photographers and videographers from Splash News and Patrick McMullen! Check out the May 5th issue of US magazine, we were asked to estimate the value of the the ridiculous Louis Vuitton Joke bag and the adorable Prada Fairy bag in 20 years. If you bought either of these bags, take good care of them, they'll be worth a fortune in the future! This is what we told US:
The Prada Fairy bag is a slice of modern pop art at its best. The fusion of designer bag and art is a modern day phenomenon and one that is sure to increase in value. Prada bags are not known to keep their value but with James Jean's touch, the Fairy Bag as wearable art should fetch at least $5,000 in 20 years. That is, if he is still alive. If he is not, the price may be double that!
Louis Vuitton is a fashion behemoth that requires quite a bit to stir up. Richard Prince is provocative and edgy and is just what they needed to keep things fresh and one step ahead. LV keeps its value well and being that this bag is a piece of "art" and is trimmed in python, you can be sure in 20 years it will be worth close to $10,000. But I'm just being perfectly objective and rational, otherwise, this bag is a hideous disaster!
