While Tina is in Europe, I am here in good ‘ole Alabama visiting family. So in my quest for civilization, I did come across something good, not blow your savings good but hey, I will settle for good enough at this point. But that is not fair to say because Celine has been climbing the bag designer hierarchy by the season with hip bags like this. Their quality has always been there, they have been around for over 60 years but they are no longer the frumpy house of horse carriage toile and tassels (although I am not opposed to tassels in general). This bag will not impress your trend whore friends but is for you gals who go in the office and show them who’s boss. I am not a lawyer but I do believe this would be perfectly appropriate for court, except you will have an extra bounce in your step showing up with a candy apple red patent leather bag instead of a dull black leather briefcase (but of course not our bag snob lawyers). Celine is staying true to their clientele of professional women but it is refreshing to see them do something that is not only beautifully made but fashionable, as well. There is a flap in the front that opens to a compartment big enough for documents and a center zip compartment in the main cabin that will fit a laptop. The chain is removable. Although I am in love with the red patent, the incredibly beautiful and lush steel grained leather is probably a better choice for serious professionals. This appropriately named “Watch me work” bag is at Net a Porter for $2100.

Dear Bag Snob,

I have been looking for a big bag suitable to be used as a diaper bag for almost 4 years now (my oldest is almost 4 and second baby just turned 1). I am looking for something that is light (not heavy) in a spring color and big to carry all my baby items. I know you are not a fan of the Goyard bags, but they look like they could be used as handy diaper bags. I am referring to the Saint Louis bags. What do you think? Do you think they're worth what they cost?

I have been buying all these bags that I need to be careful and precious about so I am feeling like I need something easy and low maintenance, one that I won't mind beating up. And although this bag is quite giant, you can still use it during the week - it is highly practical for work, school and moms who need to throw everything they own in their bag. I saw these sleek and fabulous computer bags at Violet May London designed by owner/designer Claire Collins and immediately ordered two in white (the other one is for Kelly, I am not that greedy!). You keep asking us to feature bags under $1,000 that is multi-functional, though this is no Hermes bespoke, it's a great thrill at $458! I am telling you Marc by Marc Jacobs is turning out better bags than the Marc Jacobs line. This is the ultimate computer/work/school bag, at this price point there are very few choices that will offer quality leather and detailed design but the Lovely Behati fits the bill. It looks almost like a briefcase but with a few whimsical pintuck details, it's utterly charming. If I were in college right now, this is what I'd be toting my laptop in. (Who am I kidding, I was running around with a Chanel 2.55 in college. As Kelly said, I used to use it as an overnight bag and could fit clothes in it for a sleep over at her apartment) Anyway, the pebbled grain leather is nice and soft and there are lots of interior pockets to keep you organized; the large outer pocket with magnetic closure is also perfect for storing files, keys, disks and cords. Jil Sander is one of my favorite designers, her simplicity is elegant and timeless. She brought the same aesthetics to her bag collection. Substantially improved since last season this Fall has amazing bags like this functional workbag. We have been getting a lot of requests for work/school bag suggestions and how can anything be more fabulous than this for such a mundane purpose? It doesn't look like much in the picture but let me tell you in person you can smell the quality and style. Every little detail is perfection, which is why the pared down design is where it's at. You can't make a bag for cheap and have it look like this!! That is the allure of a designer like Jil Sander, it's in the tailoring and in the case of bags, it's the craftsmanship. You pretty much buy Jil Sander for life, and to be totally pragmatic, for a workbag, you don't need an array, you get one good one and you keep it. You save your money for the fun/going out bags! We usually don't indulge when people complain that the bags we recommend are too costly, I mean, we are afterall the Bag Snobs =) But in the spirit of helping out students and our much appreciated educators, here is a bag I think everyone will agree makes for a great student, professor and work bag. It has all the flair without the big ticket. Don't you just love the gathered detail on this supple and yummy leather? The straps look short but can actually go over the shoulder.
