A few readers emailed me that they got the Jimmy Choo Blythe for work and that it fits everything but the kitchen sink. I say, you will make it to CEO soon (if you aren't already) with such a hot bag. It shows you are above the curve and possess exceptional decision making skills. The buckles show you are on the cutting edge but you know exactly when too much is too much. Four buckles on each side going half way up is the perfect amount. The classic shape is uber pragmatic and the all around zipper that opens the bag entirely gives it extreme functionality as you slide your laptop in and out with ease. There are 2 separate compartments, one larger than the other. You will never be caught fumbling through your bag. Including looking for your keys because it comes with a detachable key ring that can be clasped to the interior loop. Too chic for the office really, but you always impress! At Saks Fifth Avenue for $1895, also comes in taupe.

Now here is a tote that makes sense and has good value, unlike the Valextra canvas tote for $1060. Yes, it is true you can get a canvas tote for $20 but if you look at the construction the breakdown in quality is obvious. This One Language tote is beautifully made, has a great design and is functional. It is 100% natural canvas with tight seams, perfectly turned corners, is sturdy and maintains its structure. It has a super wide gusset so is the perfect beach / pool bag. There is a smaller compartment for your laptop (comes with a laptop case that can be used separately), or for wallet and personal items. The interior is full of pockets for phone, sunscreen, keys, etc and unlike most totes, there is a covered flap that zips closed. Comes in 4 cute designs, I love the bicycle - cute, whimsical and epitomizes the carefree days of summer. At One Language Label for $110.

I would like to start out by apologizing for even putting up pictures of these bags on Bag Snob. These Cell Phone bags are for the ultimate phone addict. There is a pocket with a clear touch pad friendly plastic window so that you can see messages and perform simple functions. I'm sorry, if you are this addicted to your phone, you should just not leave the house. And if you care so little about your bags, you might as well just put all your things in a zip lock bag. Even my husband thinks this is lame even though he is surgically attached to his iphone. He raised a good point, how do you hold the bag while you're using the phone? You have to cradle it in your arms, not exactly convenient if the price you're paying for that convenience is looking like a fool. They are $250 for the tote and $100 for the clutch, take a look if you want a good laugh.
Dear Bag Snob,
Why aren't there computer sleeves that are cute and functional? I need something that isn't so embarrassing to pull out of my nice YSL Muse. Is there nothing other than neoprene? What's a girl to do?
Frustrated Snob,
Angela
Dear Angela,
Girl, I hear you!! I have to admit, I am pretty practical when it comes to electronics so I have just been using a neoprene sleeve as well (but it is hot pink!). Well, I have the perfect thing for you, finally a computer sleeve worthy of taking out and being seen! The Rebecca Minkoff Virginia Computer Sleeve in faux ostrich is quite fabulous. Not as nice as your Muse but certainly wouldn't be a drag when taking it out. It also comes with a shoulder strap so you can use any bag you want and just carry this along with you. At Shopbop.com
for $150, totally reasonable if you ask me! I am so getting this for myself, as well. It also comes in black patent leather
for $98 but is not as unique.
Love,

I've been getting a lot of man bag requests. To be honest, I've kind of given up because man bags are for the most part really boring and the ones that are actually cool and exciting are apparently too feminine. But for Father's Day, I went through them all and came up with some less boring ones that are super functional and others that are quite amazing that are even marketed as man bags. I mean, that is pretty much the most fun aspect of man bag shopping, being baffled by the inappropriateness some of these are for men.
My favorite of all the ones I've seen is this Varvatos Calfskin Tote for $1595. It has an urban edge and is rugged enough for even the manliest of manly men. I don't know about carrying this every day but for weekend, travel and even for work, this is one uber cool bag.
The conventional option is this Prada Saffiano Tessuto Tote, $1495, for everyday office use. It isn't as boring as a briefcase and has all the niceties of a Prada so for the straight edge dad, this is still quite stylish.
I have a question I thought only you guys could answer. I love love love my designer bags - Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs are particular favourites. However, the bags I have are not practical for work, as they're too small. I am a student but will be graduating and starting work soon. I need something classic and sturdy (black or brown would be best), that can comfortably fit A4 sized files, with room for cosmetics case, umbrella etc, and preferably quite cheap (only a couple hundred pounds maybe $300-400 dollars?!). I am currently using a Longchamp Le Pliage, as they are super practical, I can literally throw them around! But I'd prefer something smarter looking, in leather, while still being stylish, of course. I hope you can help!
Many thanks,
Pri
I am in a practical mode lately and honestly, I don't think I am alone. Everyone is being focused and redefining the concept of "need", which now means the essential kind and not the emotional ones. I have been getting a lot of emails lately asking for work bags that can function as a day bag, which has always been the tote but this Fendi Sfilata Divided Satchel is actually the perfect solution! It has 2 divided compartments that closes with a turnlock clasp. It is 16" by 13" so your 13" laptop will fit, even with a sleeve on. There are little pockets on the ends which are good for computer cords and accessories but they are deep so small things will get lost in there. The crinkled patent leather is super chic and the shape is classic and long-lasting. Best of all, it is a Fendi without annoying monograms anywhere!! But one look and you know this is nothing but luxury designer. The price is not the most economical but if you need a work bag and you're getting a day bag at the same time, this is a worthy investment that will take you to your next bonus when you can buy another bag. At Fendi Sfilata Divided Satchel at Saks Fifth Avenue for $2590.
Update from Tina: Lauren is right-- eLuxury does have much better selections! This bag is hot, there is even a smaller version in metallic for evening. See Fendi Handbags here

Everyone appreciates a nice bag, even your laptop =) I use the basic black neoprene sleeve for my MacBook, I throw it in whatever big bag I am using and call it a computer bag. It works well and my laptop is being protected but stylish it is not. This metallic silver python stamped leather, however, is. If this was squashed down a little it would make a very good evening clutch, the clasp and simplicity in design would take this anywhere. The only thing is, the python print is a little off, all the large scales line up in those large stripes to make it look obviously fake. Not that your computer sleeve needs to be authentic python, probably best for wear that it is not, but it is a bit cheesy looking so obvious. But for what it is, I would still be quite appreciative if someone put this under the tree for me. It comes in 2 size, 13" for $467 and 15" for $501.50 at Violet May. Yes, a bit pricey but worth it for the flash.

See a bag you like but not in the color or material you want? Now you can customize the color and material of your bag with Design Guru Bags! If you are PETA freak (notice they slyly put up an ad through blog ads, don't click on it unless you want to lose your lunch) you can choose a man made material instead of leather. You start by choosing one of four bag styles.
The bags are nothing to write home about but they are simple and functional. Sometimes you just want an easy tote to look nice without making any kind of statement or fuss.
You can choose one color or add a contrasting second color in addition to choosing an interior color. Lastly, you can personalize it with a symbol for the lining of the bag (each represent a different meaning-- peace and harmony or vitality, etc). It's kind of fun just to play around with this software. It shows you exactly how the bag will look! Gotta love modern technology. Prices are reasonable at $495 for the Mini Mapmaker (shown above left), $695 for the Mapmaker above right (14"x12"), $795 for the Stadia (shown below) and $695 the West Wind for laptop/work (10"x13" shown below right). Go to Design Guru now and have fun customizing your own bag! Jump for more photos!
OK, I am totally serious this time and I know you will all agree, this bag is totally suitable for a man. Not only is it super manly but it is perfectly utilitarian, which apparently is the only thing men care about if they are in the market for a bag. I love Loro Piana, of course their cashmere but their bags, as well. Tina and I have several between us. It is such good quality, the leather is comparable to the level of superiority their cashmere is known for and all the styles are designed for function. I cannot get myself to buy my man a plain black leather square to use as a bag, I just won't spend money on something that lacking in character. But the ones I think are stylish and chic, he will not be caught dead in. That's why this bag is so great - it is really the best of both worlds. It has the signature tab detail over the essential and handy big outer zipper compartment. The interior has all the pockets and slots for gadgets and do0dads. See, he doesn't have to use a backpack or nylon messenger! Christimas is sneaking up quickly so keep this is mind for the men in your life. $4710 and only comes in this brown.
