I am not a big Goyard fan so this is a real statement here - I am in love with this clutch! What is amazing about Goyard is their history of making steam trunks, so how cool is it that this boxy clutch with wood trim is reminiscent of that! The white is the only way to go with this, it also comes in black (blah) and powder pink (pukey). The thing though is, white is way more expensive that black. Black and red is their most produced colors and every other color comes at a premium, this clutch is $2015 in white and $1580 in black. At $1580 I am almost there but at $2015 it had to go back on the shelf. I was having fun thinking of the great colors I can do with their custom striping, like raspberry and orange or even turquoise and pink! Something really bright that will pop! And instead of the stripe going down the middle, I would do it off to the side (or I should say would have). Of course Goyard has nothing online so you will need to call Barney, 310-276-4400 ext 5593, ask for Mirjam.

One of our favorite stops in New York is always the Nancy Gonzalez showroom. Imagine, the Bag Snobs in a room full of exotic bags in bright colors!! We act like we are shopping for ourselves even though we are supposed to be doing a preview for the blog. Luckily for us, sometimes the two are the same =) There a new shapes, always new colors and new techniques used with the skins for Spring 2010.

Marchesa showed their Spring 2010 gowns with a new clutch collection! As well as drop dead to-die-for jewelry from Garrard, which you can see on the hands of the models. Garrard is the English jeweler who makes the Crown Jewels for the English Royal family. Fancy! They showed 9 clutches, all evening of course, and absolutely stunning. I loved that they did a presentation so that I can go up close and personal to inspect the intricate details of each clutch. And the models are so nice and cooperative - they held them out for me as I ogled each one. All are box clutches in satin with pleats and flowers, all over beaded and one in alligator. The closures are like jewelry, either one giant piece of crystal or crystal embellished hardware clasps.

To satisfy your Oscar urge right now, I recommend grabbing this glittering distressed gold python roll clutch here.

Amongst the veritable miles of luscious leather that line the walls of each Bottega Veneta boutique you will find almost every possible incarnation of size, shape, and neutral shade of the iconic Veneta bag, along with scores of other styles--woven and plain; soft and structured, in everything from lambskin to crocodile--all masterpieces of handcrafting. The Veneta is, in fact, so iconic that it may be hard to find a spot in the world where at least two women in the same room are not carrying some version of the luxe and slouchy bag. Not so, though, for the limited edition knot clutch--a perfectly-sized minaudiere that comes both in a range of subtly-colored satin or, for the less quotidian option, a limited production of unusual materials--exotic skins, precious metals--that only come around once in a lifetime. For example, this season features, among others, an antique silver version that gives new meaning to the term "treasure box." Made by hand-weaving together strips of sterling silver, this piece is so labor-intensive to produce that only a few were made--and only a handful of those are still available in the U.S.

I really like the Emilio Pucci Bean-shaped hard clutch (left, $1,385), but I can't look at it without thinking that it's a knock-off of Elsa Peretti's bean. I know that similarities like this come up all the time -- especially these days when it has almost become all too acceptable for designers to knock each other off -- but Peretti's bean is so iconic and so prevalent that Pucci's bag almost strikes me as insulting, especially since it's done in a high-shine metallic. That said the shape is great and given its curvatures it looks like it would be easy to carry despite its hard outer shell. I'm also loving the navy metallic color for fall.
What do you think about this Pucci clutch?

Heading to Rachel Roy's presentation right now and wanted to give you a first hand preview of her frugal but fabulous line of bags for Macy's in Spring 2010.
The Rachel | Rachel Roy collection will launch at Macy's next spring and I will let you know the minute the bags are available! The one above is woven embossed snakeskin (hence the lower price- not yet confirmed but I can tell you it will be tres affordable!) and looks incredibly luxe. I love how Rachel paired her clutch with a long gown and distressed brown belt, gives the classic look a total urban edge.
A big thank you to Rachel Roy (we met on twitter!) for providing this very exclusive sneak preview for Bag Snob readers!

I am stalking the girls on SATC 2 this week. The bags, the jewels, the shoes! It's all so very exciting! Samantha (I call them by the fictitious names as if they were my friends, yes I need help) clutched a fabulous VBH yesterday-- the Palm Clutch in Shocking Mastice Drip Python (even the name is sexy and appropriate for Samantha!) Retail is $1,300-- so reasonable for an exotic large clutch with impeccable detailing that all VBH bags are known for.
Call Juliana at Stanley Korshak (they carry the largest selections of VBH bags! We're hoping to get the very handsome Bruce to come out for an event with Bag Snob ;) or email Juliana here! Trust me, if they don't have it, she will find it!
I walked into the Cavalli boutique last week and was shocked that I wanted more than few things in there! What? I don't own a single piece of Cavalli because I'm not into tacky floral with animals prints which is what I've associated with Cavalli for years! But instead, I found sleek suede pants with chic little fur boleros!
The bags were not bad either! A total improvement from the past season, though this little clutch number is just a bit too much. Had they stopped with just the two rows of studs (without the different sizes, round studs and multiple hued metals) it'd be so much better. I'm not sick of studs, never have and never will but this is even overkill for me. I do love the heavy chain with the suede though. Could work with a lot of stuff in my closet right now but seriously, a bit overpriced. Roberto Cavalli Studded Suede Clutch $1,115 here.
What do you think? Too much or totally slammin'?
