Leighton Meester in LAMB clutch

leighton-meester-Orissa.jpglamb.JPG

Now that Gossip Girl is on hiatus I'm pretty much only watching Bravo -- which is sadly seriously addicting! None of the characters on Bravo's version of Gossip Girl, NYC Prep, have even an ounce of Leighton Meester's character Blair's style however. I'm not into Serena, Jenny, or Vanessa's style -- exclusively Blair's. She's always so chic and pulled together, but also fashion forward (she wore Marchesa to her prom after all!). In the photo above Meester is spotted on set in L.A.M.B.'s Women's Darjeeling Leather Orissa Clutch which is now a must-buy at $192.50. It's a wonderfully versatile clutch that will work year-round (and it comes in two colorways), thanks to its contrasting trim and subtle goldtone hardware. It's got an interior zip pocket and the front flap has a concealed magnetic snap closure.

Natalie Imbruglia's Chanel Bag: Snob or Slob?

np.jpg    CHANEL.JPG

This black and white lambskin Chanel bag with interlaced chain is a reinterpretation of the classic flap bag and is from Chanel's Spring/Summer 2009 collection. I'm not particularity fond of the way the color blocking is done, though at least the colors make it fairly versatile when it comes to matching the bag with an outfit. That said I would never wear a bag of this size to a formal event! This style definitely doesn't beat the classic flap bag and I think it's a slob with Natalie Imbrulia's gown. Jennifer Garner in Anya Hindmarch's Jackson Shoulder Bag

There is the most amazing deal on the Anya Hindmarch Jackson Shoulder Bag that Jennifer Garner was photographed carrying right now! It's down to $459.90 from $1,150 (60% off)! This bag is so chic, perfect for casual, outdoor summertime lunches and strolls. Anya Hindmarch has a special place in my heart -- years ago when she was mostly known for bags with photographs on them, she gave customers the opportunity to pick a personal photo of their choice and have it printed on a bag and though I don't wear it anymore, I had them make me one with an old photo of my mother and I on my 8th birthday..what a memory! I think this bag is equally as timeless. It's not overtly trendy or fashion-forward, just a nice, casual find. The leather chain is hand covered and the colorful buckle adds just the right pop of color. What do you think about the Jackson Shoulder Bag?

Frugal Celebs: Hollywood Intuition for Target

One of the good things about living in a boring place like Ithaca, where I lived for four years while I was at Cornell, is having easy-access to Target's designer collaborations. Whereas in major cities/online the few covetable items would fly off the shelves, I could always leisurely shop in the Ithaca Target. Even, a handful of years later, I still wear some accessory finds from their collaboration with Behnaz Sarafpour. Now Target has partnered with Jaye Hersh, owner of the Los Angeles celeb-fave boutique, Intuition, to launch their latest accessories collaboration, Hollywood Intuition. Paris Hilton, Jenna Dewan, and Amanda Bynes have already snatched-up bags from the collection which just hit stores and the web a few days ago. Overall the bag selection is not as good as past collaborations -- most styles are too simple for my taste -- but I'm liking the belt bags pictured below especially in the green shade. I could totally see myself heading out for a casual night or to run some errands when all I need is my phone and money wearing it. As for the faux-skin one next to the belt bags, it made me think of the frugal girl's Adriana Castro Meissa Python Hobo in natural! The prices, of course, are hard to beat --  none of the bags retail for over $29.99 and Target's quality always trumps H&M, Kohl's or any of those other retail outlets that do designer collaborations (The Wall Street Journal actually investigated this). For anyone looking for a non-trendy, affordable bag I think the collection is definitely worth check-out. What do you think about the Hollywood Intuition line?

Rachel McAdams in Givenchy Eclipse Hobo

When a bag is prominently displayed in our favorite movies (like in The Proposal, Sandra Bullock with a Prada), we take notice and decide that we really love the bag (or not) after seeing it in action for 2 hours, how it looks on the shoulder, swinging through the streets and sitting on the lap. Unfortunately, by the time the movie comes out, the bag is already last season's story and nowhere to be found.

I am already certain that that will be the case for the Givenchy Eclipse Hobo on Rachel McAdams in, Morning Glory, set to release in 2010 with co-star Harrison Ford about a struggling morning TV show. I LOVE this bag in patent leather but the slouchy shape crinkles up the patent too much, making it crease and wrinkle in bad ways, but this cut leather version is perfection. It is not stamped to look like snake but rather is cut so it has the texture and feel with curled edges. It is perfectly uniform so you can tell it is not real snake, which I prefer, it is just for effect. Be ahead of the curve and get this bag now, at Barneys New York for $1675.

Alexander McQueen Calf Petal Flapper Novak.jpg

The Alexander McQueen Novak (inspired by actress Kim Novak), has been around for a few years now and comes in an endless array of colors and slight variations. I've never been much of a fan of the bag, but I'm liking the style that Jessica Simpson has been totting around. I think the shape of the Calf Petal Flapper Novak is nicely complemented by the gold hardware and I like the shade of brown. Of course what truly makes the bag are the petals which unlike so many others aren't obnoxiously hippy-esque. Even though between the studs, the buckle, and the petals there's a lot going on I think the bag works because everything was kept in gold and brown. It's also nice and roomy so I'm not surprised that Jessica Simpson is using it to travel! What do you think -- snob or slob?  Alexander McQueen bags are available at Net-a-Porter.com.

The Carlalala from Roger Vivier

carlabrunivivierbag.jpg Who knew Carla Bruni would clean up so well? Gone are the wild days of her past life, she has slipped into the role of the First Lady of France beautifully. And what fashion designer doesn't dream of a First Lady to dress with a body of a supermodel? Do you think supermodel turned wife of President will become a trend here? I can't think of any supermodel that could fit the role of First Lady of the United States except maybe Christie Brinkley but she's twice divorced so I don't know how that'd work. Anywho, getting down to bag business here. Check out the Roger Vivier haute couture crocodile bag custom made for Bruni-Sarkozy's wardrobe of Chanel and Dior dresses by Bruno Frisoni. Named the "Carlalala," proceeds from sales of the made-to-order creation will go to Bruni-Sarkozy's favorite charities. I'm just wondering if she paid for the bag she's carrying. Photo: instyle

Frugal Snob: Zara Cutch

olivia palermo entourage zara clutch.jpgMy best friend's brother used to be business partners with Olivia Palermo's ex-boyfriend so I've heard a lot of gossip tales about her all of which point to her not being the nicest of people (something anyone who watched The City probably knows).

I've seen her a few times out and about in NYC and her possible-catty/bitchy-ness aside she always looks gorgeous -- like she spent 5 hours in hair and makeup -- but still gorgeous! I love her fashion sense and her ability to mix high and low. In the picture to the left she is wearing a Topshop jacket and shoes (mental note: must fit in trip to Topshop ASAP!), which she paired with a Zara clutch.

Loving this clutch especially with so many people being wary of spending big bucks on a YSL or Alexander Wang studded bag, I think this is a wonderful alternative. It wasn't until last season that I started turning to Zara for bags and shoes, they've really turned around their accessories division and you can find tons of great items for under $150. I actually made a comment to one of the sales people about how their offerings have gotten so much better these last few months and she told me they did an overhaul in their design team.  Call Zara for more info:

Katherine Heigl, Tod's Girelli Pochette at The Ugly Truth

katherineheigl.pngKatherine Heigl is one of my favorite actresses, she has such natural beauty! I was really excited when I was invited to The Ugly Truth premiere, not only because I love her but these are my kind of movies. She was absolutely stunning!! She wore Lanvin from Fall '09 with metallic Louboutin pumps and the most amazing Tod's clutch, a gray snakeskin Girelli pochette. So amazing to contrast the nude with gray.

And can I just tell you, Gerard Butler is freaking HOT! He's like dirty hot, you don't want to marry him but you'll sleep with him =) I was expecting a typical romantic comedy with all its trappings (I love them!) but this was surprisingly different. Sure, the it ends as expected, has funny girl / boy bantering and gratuitous nudity (Eric Winter shows his bare butt in the movie and the Sony executive who I got the tickets from asked him at the after party if he waxed for that scene! She thought she would get fired but didn't care, she needed to know. The answer, NO!! You have to see the movie just for that scene especially knowing he has a naturally smooth butt).

The things Gerard Butler says in the movie are borderline shocking and very male-centric but hilarious. Which means, you're boyfriend/date/husband will enjoy it. Katherine Heigl was great as usual, and whatever people say about her pain in the ass behavior on Grey's Anatomy, her entire cast was there to support her (I saw her chatting with Justin Chambers, T.R. Knight and Kate Walsh). Definitely must see!!

Eva Longoria with "Annie" clutch from Adriana Castro

adrianaannieclutch.jpg I just got a swatch book from Adriana Castro to order my Tina clutches from-- it has more colors than you can imagine and in multiple treatments of crocodile skin. I am so overstimulated I had to lie down after going through the book. I have zero self control and really want every single color in there but then I may have to get a real job so I am going to keep it to two crocodile Tina Clutches.

Apparently Eva Longoria is also a fan, she's been seen with this sleek and chic Annie clutch from Adriana Castro with her other arm candy, sexy hubby Tony Parker.

The Tina clutch for Spring 2010 will be available in 8-10 weeks but the Annie clutch is attainable this minute on Adriana's website or at Bergdorf Goodman for $985 in python or ring lizard. There are two sizes for the Annie Clutch. The one that Eva Longoria is carrying is the Small Version: 5"H x 11 3/4"W x 1/2"D. Retail Price: $1,095. The Large Version: 6 1/4"H x 14 1/4"W x 1"D. Retail Price: $1,300
