What do you think about Berry's Bvlgari bag?

When I was younger I was obsessed with getting a dog. Every birthday, every good grade, every time I did anything remotely noteworthy I was convinced that I would be getting a dog (and a TV in my room for that matter...). Unfortunately growing up in Manhattan the only pets I ever had were some fish I got "free with purchase" in the Bloomingdale's Kids section one year, a turtle when I learned how to ride a bike, and some butterflies that came in a science kit that I had to let fly away after a few days -- booooring!
Looking back now I can of course see why my parents didn't want to get me a dog. Between rigorous course-work and endless after school activities there was no way I would have had time to care for a dog (I went to a French school where it's normal for kids as young as 11 who are in advanced classes to be in school from 8 to 6! Then factor in tennis, piano and all those other things kids are expected to do these days...I don't even know how I survived looking back!). Any case, I can totally see why these ladies want to pamper their dogs. They become like family I imagine, so I say why not tote them in a chic designer dog bag!

This is going to sound mean (and on Yom Kippur out of all the days!), but I don't mean for it to come off as malicious. There are a number of Tory Burch accessories that I like, but can't bring myself to buy because every time I turn a corner I see someone like Kimora Lee Simmons wearing one of them and I think "eech nooo I can't get that same thing!" Tory Burch reminds me of Juicy Couture in that way. They both have great buys (seriously! Just put aside all the Juicy Couture decor/ad cheesiness), but the JAP-y/WASP-y meets tacky factor often associated with the people who wear them stops me from buying either of the brands. Maybe that's stupid of me, because I legitimately like the bag pictured above and the price point fits. There's also a fab matching bracelet.
Would you buy Kimora's Tory Burch Studded Satchel ($595)?

Loving the Hogan bag the ladies above have opted for. I read about it in the French issue of Elle when I was in Biarritz and it's a super versatile find that comes in an endless array of colors. I'm usually not a fan of purple, but I'm liking the shade of Katherine Heigl's bag the best especially since she's wearing it as a tote. Who do you think wore Hogan best?

You can't go wrong with the Salvatore Ferragamo Gathered Leather Hobo ($1,790) that Eva Mendes is sporting. It has a classic look to it and I love that its center curvature is nice and roomy without the over-all shape resembling a croissant. It looks so comfy to tote around and the size makes it a perfect day-to-night bag. The hobo is lined with silk, has two open pockets, an inside zipper, and a detachable twisted strap. Magnifique!

Reese Witherspoon has been photographed on a number of occasions wearing the Marni Balloon Cross-Body Bag ($1,000) designed in collaboration with Kim Gordon. A few of you expressed wishing to see how the bag looks in action back when Bag Snob Kelly wrote about it, so here you have it! I don't really understand why Marni keeps bragging about this being an "unlined must-have" -- why in the world is being unlined a good thing!?? I like the leather edges and the brown and white contrast, but the price just doesn't fit the design. I have a bunch of old Kate Spade canvas bags that I got for 1/3 of the price back in her heyday (she collaborated with Haagen-Dazs and some artists a few years back which resulted in some fun canvas bags). I also think the bag only works as a cross-body because you'd kill your hands wearing it any other way (and it's too small to fit on your wrist).

Check out our very own Bag Snob Liza at the Emmys tonight! She looks beautiful in her black dress and serious arm candy (no, not Conan)-- an amazing Anya Hindmarch shagreen clutch (we had much discussion about this when she was contemplating the purchase).
I just received a text from Liza, the dress is Lanvin and the jewels are Lorraine Schwartz. Fabulous-- she looks like a movie star!
Oh, and Conan, dude-- nice hair!!!
Liza's Marano clutch is made of stingray but if you want a similar look for less, check out the black leather version from Anya Hindmarch here.

I think this may be the first time Katy Perry has something I want! I actually like the Be & D Garbo Portfolio even more than the Marc Jacobs Leather Beat Bag ($1,422.85), which I almost bought in a boutique in Biarritz last week (I didn't like the strap and ended-up deciding that the size was too big to be worn out at night and too small to be convenient for me during the day). There's a plush-ness to the Be & D bag's leather and the studs are a bit pointed (very useful during Fashion Week for the shows where I only have standing room and people are a little too close for comfort!).
What do you think about the Garbo Portfolio? Better than MJ's bag?

I would so love to raid Diane Kruger's closet. I absolutely love her edgy-feminine style -- even when she's sporting bags like this 3.1 Phillip Lim Edie Bow Purse ($755, from Lim's Fall 2009 collection), which is not totally my cup of tea, I think she rocks it. I'm not loving the droopy bow on the bag's front flap, but I like the detail on the strap and the gold studs which look like small flecks of gold! The purse is a nice complement to Kruger's conservative dress and flats and the price seems right. Plus couldn't you totally imagine Edie Sedgwick having worn this purse? Now there's a style icon!
