Emma Watson's Burberry Corded Check Suede Tote: Snob or Slob?

emma watson bur.jpgburberry suede.jpg

Burberry's handbags have been amazing these last few seasons. Now that they're finally getting away from all that plaid overkill they've really come out with some amazing designs. The Corded Check Suede Tote Bag ($1,795) that Emma Watson is toting in the Burberry ad pictured above is from the fall/winter 2009 runway show. The tote has alligator leather trims and cord threads woven into the body so there's a light pattern. I like that the leather handles are only slightly darker than the body of the bag -- the light contrasts keeps the tote from being obtrusive despite having a prominently placed pattern. The only drawback is that the bag has an open top (I always get stressed when my bags don't zip...they're too many sticky fingers these days).

Olivia Palermo in Chloe Gemma Handbag

Love this look! So many people rag on Olivia Palermo and while I can understand why --  based on how she acts on "The City" --  I don't understand those who knock her style. She plays the uptown-chic meets downtown-cool so flawlessly (I mean those Loubies! The Missoni dress! The Chloe bag! To die!), I would almost go so far as to say she's a mini-Victoria Beckham.

Above Palermo is pictured in the Chloe Gemma - gorgeous! I love the color (I think beige and taupe are def the new brown and black), the simplicity of the hardware, and the size and shape are perfect for toting around during the day.

Sara Paxton's Gucci Metallic Mirror Clutch: Snob or Slob?

Sara Paxton, star of the now defunct CW show "The Beautiful Life" (it was canceled after only two episodes!! -- so sad I was actually kind of liking the show), paired her Giles fall 2009 corset mini dress with the Gucci Metallic Mirror clutch. I like the robotic/futuristic feel of the bag which definitely plays into a lot of the trends we saw on the runway for Spring/Summer 2010. The clutch also does a nice job of complementing the stiffness and the bold colors of Paxton's dress. The classic shape and the fact that it's monochromatic make this a versatile and easy to match clutch despite the metallic color. I'm a fan and I think Paxton rocked this look (even better than Victoria Beckham I must say who was recently photographed in this Giles dress as well).

Kate Hudson's Faithful Alexander McQueen Tote

Kate Hudson is rocking the Alexander McQueen Faithful (even though she could probably do without those over-the-knee boots -- never got the appeal of this shoe style and it doesn't seem to be going away!). The Faithful comes in a few different varieties, but I think black is the best given its size. It's super roomy with a bunch zippers and snaps making it easy to organize your things when you've got a long, busy day and the asymmetry, along with all the different textures that this tote boasts, keeps it interesting even when it's monochromatic (and sans studs).

What's your favorite version of the Alexander McQueen Faithful Tote?

Freida Pinto Dolce & Gabbana Miss Gin Ruffle Bowler

I'm usually not a big fan of Dolce & Gabbana bags, but the Dolce & Gabbana Miss Gin Ruffle Bowler  ($2,395) that Freida Pinto has got is pretty chic in a very Dior meets Be & D way. I like the pleated body, the little ruffles, and the cream leather goes nicely with her outfit. The straps are also long enough that the bag could fit over your shoulder (the bowler comes with a removable shoulder strap as well).

Kate Moss and YSL Le Sixième

So excited to see the new YSL bag, Le Sixième (I just featured it last week) dangling off Kate's shoulder. She and I have very similar tastes in bags apparently, (Derek Lam's Elsa comes to mind) wonder if she reads Bag Snob!? Wishful thinking but just in case- love love love, you Kate! Now, this bag-- does seeing it on her change your mind about it? Some of you weren't very enthusiastic it when I first featured it. Tell me, are you influenced by Kate the Great? (more pix of Kate after the jump!)

Alexa Chung in Tan Mulberry Alexa Bag

alexa mulberry.jpgalexachung mulberry.jpg

Given that it was named after her, it's little surprise that Alexa Chung has been spotted all around wearing the Alexa Mulberry bag in tan. It's part of the brand's Spring/Summer 2010 collection and I for one can't wait for this bag to hit! I love how worn-in and slouchy it looks, though I have to say it does remind me quite a bit of Proenza Schouler's Fall/Winter 2009 bags (which had a similar briefcase-like inspiration, though the PS bags were more structured). If you're going to take inspiration from someone though, the Proenza Schouler boys aren't a bad choice:)

Paris Hilton Gretchen Actress Clutch: Snob or Slob?

Paris Hilton has been spotted carrying the Gretchen Actress clutch (how ironic is it that Paris is wearing the "Actress" clutch!?), on a few occasions and putting aside her outfit choices, I'm liking the look of this clutch! No this bag isn't to die for (at least not in the same way as the Hermes CDC clutch -- how I drool every time I see someone with it!), but the half-moon shape and contrast between the quilted stitching and smooth leather makes it a cool, easy-to-wear alternative to a simple black clutch. It also comes in a variety of colors and Gretchen usually has pretty reasonable price-points (most pieces are under $600).

Beyonce and Solange in Samantha Thavasa Disney Collection

beysol2.jpgbeysol11.jpg

Japanese fashion company Samantha Thavasa is best known, at least in my mind, for their association with Tinsley Mortimer (I've even spotted her shooting for the brand around NYC last year) and the Hilton sisters, but it turns out there are a slew of celebs and socials affiliated with the brand. Beyonce and her sister Solange have appeared in a nautical-themed advertisement campaign for the line and they were recently photographed (above) sporting the Disney collection. My vote is slob all the way. I can't get over the glaring metallic which makes the bags look horribly cheap.

Taylor Momsen's G-Star Raw Frame Purse: Snob or Slob?

How uncharacteristically lady-like for Taylor Momsen to be sporting such a petite structured frame purse. Even with the bag -- over-sized bow and all -- Momsen still looks eerily gothic though (especially given her age!). The G-Star Raw Frame Purse gets completely lost in her sea of black, but I could totally see it being cute against a simple, colorful sheath dress. I love the over-sized bow -- gives the bag a fun Moschino-esque quality.
