Snob Quiz December 9, 2008

chaneltotechic.jpgI am obsessing over this messenger tote from Chanel. It's made of buttery soft lambskin and has great details-- the shoulder strap is thin so it's not heavy and there is a top handle should you want to tuck in the long strap and be lady like. This is such a versatile bag! Depending on your needs, you can stuff diapers, magazines, or files in it yet still look stylish. Perfection!

I am speed dialing my SA Alexis and so should you if you want to treat yourself for Christmas/Hanukkah/Chinese New Year! 214-520-1055

Tell me-- Who is this casually chic star in the snobulous Chanel tote?

Winner will receive a Bag Snob shirt in their choice of size and color. Winner will be chosen via random computer drawing on Friday, 12/12 at midnight EST. US residents only, please!!!

Following his acclaimed Spring/Summer 2009 ready-to-wear show for Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs knew exactly who he wanted to embody the spirit of the season: Madonna should be the face of Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer fashion campaign.

Double Vision Chanel: SJP vs. Reese

chanelvintagezip.jpgTwo of my favorite actresses apparently have similar taste in bags. Both SJP and Reese Witherspoon were spotted shopping recently in Chanel's vintage zip quilted shoulder bag in grey aged calfskin.

I quite fancy this bag myself and if it weren't for this damn economy making me feel guilty for shopping I would have snapped it up along with the other 3 Chanel bags I purchased this season. But I told myself 3 was plenty for the CC's and that was that.  The bag is from Pre-Fall and it's sold out. So good luck finding one.  Call my guy Alexis at 214-520-1055 and maybe he can help you.

Anyhoo, just curious, who do you think rocks the bag better? SJP or Reese?

Hayden Panettiere hopes to become "Hero" of bags

haydendooneyburke.jpg Actress Hayden Panettiere, star of hit series Heroes, introduces her signature Hayden Clutch designed by the actress today, December 1, 2008. The bags are available at Dooney and Bourke New York, Las Vegas, Dallas, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Costa Mesa, White Plains, Old San Juan, Japan, and Macau. The Dooney and Bourke spokes-model was given the opportunity of a lifetime to create her dream bag with Peter Dooney. The Hayden Clutch is fashioned from Italian calfskin with a 24 carat gold plated lion head closure, inspired by her astrological sign, Leo. It has a fully lined interior, outside back pocket and is available in black, white, red, royal blue, hot pink and purple. The clutch retails for $295 and is available exclusively at Dooney and Bourke stores nationwide during the month of December.

Uh, generally we laugh at attempts by actresses to 'design' bags but in this case, I have to say not bad! Maybe I'm biased towards Leos but the logo is not totally obtrusive and the fun colors are making me excited for the holidays. I am loving the blue and red and am looking forward to seeing the hot pink. I love the price point as well, $295 is reasonable for Italian calfskin with 24 carat gold plated hardware. I've never been into Dooney and Burke-- too conservative for me; but this collection may just change my mind. What about you, what do you think of the Hayden clutch?

Bag Snob of the Week: Molly Sims

!cid_image001_jpg@01C943F4.jpgMolly Sims is carrying my clutch from Anya Hindmarch, the Selina, while at the L'Oreal Legends Gala to Benefit The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at the American Museum of Natural History on November 10, 2008 in New York City. Well, she's not actually carrying my clutch, but I have it as well! What I don't have, however, is her amazingly toned arms and that white hot gown she's wearing. I wonder if it'd look the same on me? Maybe if I wore really really high heels? Hum, this is a discussion we should take up in Couture Snob!

Back to the bag, this is one of my all time favorite clutches, it goes with everything and is so chic and elegant! Made of washed metallic linen/metallic nappa leather, it is a jewel of a clutch. Retail is $715 but you can find similar styles 60% off at the Anya Hindmarch warehouse sale!

When: Tuesday November 18th - Thursday 20th 9am - 5.30pm

Where:
Anya Hindmarch Showroom 416 West 13th Street Suite 317

Corto Moltedo Susan Shock Clutch

The new Bond Girl, Olga Kurylenko, is beyond gorgeous! A friend of mine met her an event in Amsterdam to promote "Quantum of Solace" and she said there were bodyguards flanking her because so many men were accosting her (these were movie executives!). Olga went from super model to full blown movie star in one quick second so this transition makes her an obvious style maker. She is seen here with the Corto Moltedo Susan Shock clutch at the Spanish premiere of the new bond movie, she also wore Corto Moltedo at the premier in Rome. I like this modern style miniaudiere with hardware as accents. It does not compete with her vintage Chanel gown and is updated and fresh. It will be available at the first flagship shop opening in January in Palais Royal and will also be available at Corto's online shop early next year for 775 euros, around $970 USD.

Bags at the 2009 Emmy's

As promised, here are some of the bags seen at the Emmy Awards. I am glad to see that they aren't run of the mill - it looks as though celebs decided to show their independent style in their bags rather than in their gowns. Maybe there was a compromise with their stylists and publicists?

DVF Olivier dress and Romanek Yvette feather clutch

Even I opted for the statement bag and kept the dress simple (I wore this DVF dress). Not knowing the popularity of Romanek at the Emmy's, it seems like I was on the cutting edge with this Yvette feather trim clutch!! It is way out there and a total editorial piece, completely impractical for everyday life, which is why I chose it! It doubled as a fan, which came in handy during arrivals (the show started at 5pm which meant we were outside in the hot sun at 3pm).

Bag Snob Pop Quiz - Audrina

audrina_patridge.jpg What is this bag seen on Audrina Patridge? I give her points for not going for the obvious (hint hint). Now that everyone seems to be looking at what she is wearing, she has decided to strike out with this very lovely (I'll resist from commenting on her fringy dress). This style is rather young which is a departure for this line (another hint) and it makes me wonder, is that why she is seen with it? Please put your answer in comments by the end of the day at 11:59pm EST. One entry per person please! We will choose one winner through a random drawing. Winner gets a Bag Snob bag hook! If you don't have a bag hook already, please take a look at the underneath side of your bag, is it roughed up?

Celeb Bag: Watch "Blake" Work

blakeceline.jpgBlake Lively on her way to work in the "Watch me work" bag by Celine. I am not a fan of these boorish bags and the black crocodile just makes it even more old-- doesn't it seem just a tad on the mature side for this young lovely?   Reminds me of myself at that age, trying to impress with bags that were beyond my age and wardrobe.  What do you guys think?  Check out the  leather versions of the bag on Net-a-porter.com.
