I totally agreed with Kelly's assessment of the Prada Hobo last week but looking at it in black ties on python carried by a very cute Miranda Kerr, I'm loving it! Not to get all celeb obsessed on you but I am bored with all the bags so thought I'd check out what Hollywood is carrying. What do you think? Does it take a cute girl to make an average bag work?

Rachel Bilson always has great bags but this time I am not so sure of her choice. The Miu Miu bag is way too busy for me and the shape is cumbersome and stale.  Then again, I am not a 20 something hipster (newly engaged to boot).  But those things on the bag make me uneasy, the way looking at amoebas make me feel. 

What do you guys think?  Snob or Slob?

Now this is the Posh I like; a bit too impeccably groomed but simple and chic. I love this Balenciaga coat she's sporting here-- apparently she does, too and travels with this coat often. The left photo was taken in November 2008 at Heathrow, the right photo taken this week at Heathrow. The multi color Kelly is a funky version of the classic bag that once hid Grace Kelly's pregnant belly and the purple (raisin or violine) is too fabulous for words!

I am so excited to see Valextra bags on the arms of two of my favorite girls, Jennifer Aniston and Victoria Beckham (yes-- I love her, I can't help it!). I have been obsessed with Valextra for several years now and have a nice little collection going but now I must have the Babila (carried by Jen). It's such a great tote size for travel and in pergamena white it has that nonchalant Italian riviera chic. Posh is carrying the Borsa Series S bag also in white, the bowler shape is very posh and it has an exterior zipped compartment which makes it functional as well. Talk about quiet luxury, what could be more quietly luxurious than a meticulously crafted Valextra bag? Which one do you like better? The Babila or the Borsa Series S? I was at Mr. Chow's Oscar party (coverage of that later) which I am actually still recovering from so excuse the delay of this story (and yesterday was my birthday so there is a lot to recover from, mainly my age!!). I am happy to see that people are paying more attention to the clutch and using ones that make their own statement rather than blending in and resorting to the beaded box miniaudiere, although that is still the majority of what we saw. It need not be said that Meryl Streep is the most loved actress of our time, not just for her talent but for her grace and effortless beauty. She has the perfect clutch to set off the tonal Alberta Ferretti chiffon gown. She said she wore this because she put it on and it fit. I am sure there was more to it than that!! Angelina Jolie looked happy and was quite chatty on the red carpet! I loved loved loved her striking contrasting emeralds she wore with the sleek black Elie Saab and she topped this off with the Lana Mark Cleopatra, whom she resembles doesn't she? Everyone's favorite comedian is way hotter than she portrays herself to be, the Zac Posen champagne gown is deceptively modest but the plunging neckline and hip hugging curves gives it all up. She chose the VBH Martini clutch in laminated silver python, which shows that she is the animal on the inside that we've always suspected. Such a fabulous clutch!!

The best part about the Oscars is watching Red Carpet action, I can't wait to see what fabulous clutches the stars bring out! I've confirmed that the following celebs will be carrying VBH clutches-- Amy Adams, Tina Fey and Naomi Watts! (I was going to carry VBH as well, but am sick in bed waaaaaah!) I have been ape over the purple python Tod's Bauletto Helmut bag ever since Kelly wrote about it and swore it's going to be my next treat (the leather is nice but the python, that is spectacular!).  I kept thinking it'd eventually go on sale (everything goes on sale!) so I haven't made the move but now that I see Gwyn running around town with it I am pissed I didn't jump on it first (okay so I'm also pissed I'm not 5'11" but that's an issue we'll discuss another time). 

By the way, just want to say this is the perfect example of how a fabulous bag will make your outfit.  Gwyn appears to be wearing her hubby's shapeless cardigan and her baby's blanket but still, she looks stylish because of the bag.  Yes yes it's a functional bag but I'm mainly sold on the to die for color-- it is such a gorgeous shade of purple!

The python version is $2,525 (very reasonable!) plus it's only 14" wide- perfect for me. But I am officially on a major bag diet. Someone picked up a matte crocodile Birkin in Gris Elephant (the most fabulous neutral shade- with a tinge of olive and gray) today and is not allowed to buy another bag for like, a year. What a surprise to see Victoria Beckham in something non-Hermes! The fact that we have similar taste in bags is beginning to feel creepy. Is she a Bag Snob fan or what? Must investigate. Anyhoo, I adore Nancy Gonzalez (she'll be making a virtual PA next month on our site!) but this oversized clutch Posh is toting on her way out to dinner is way too big for me (I have it in purple in a smaller version but still oversized). An oversized clutch is kind of like having your cake and eating it, too-- you get to stuff it full of your things yet still look chic.  But if it's too big you'll look like your cradling your baby, so make sure yours is proportionate to your stature!  What do you think of oversized clutches?

How lovely to see Victoria Beckham, aka Posh, is still continuing to grow her vast Hermes collection with the latest darling- an Hermes Himalayan croc birkin with diamonds in 30cm.

For me, the bling is overkill. The croc skin is so amazing by itself and is enough of a statement, the diamonds make it vulgar. Okay, so I'm just jealous; I mean if someone were to give me this I certainly wouldn't say no!
