Cecelia Stingray Clutch

cecelia_stingrayclutch2.png jamielynnsigler_cecelia.jpgStingray is the Frugal Snob's best exotic option, but only those in the know, know that it is inexpensive because it looks super exotic with its amazing details. Most people choose it purely for the look, regardless of price. Jamie Lynn Sigler wore it to the premiere of Entourage. I used to love the show but it is getting so boring with the same exact theme. Not sure if I'll tune in this season. Anyway, you can see how versatile this clutch is but still has distinction - a tiger-like print can only go with one thing, simple black clutch, but the stingray does not fight with the print and stands up on its own instead of fading to the background. Other celebrities seen with this clutch are Sienna Miller, Leighton Meester and Sophia Bush (go to jump page for photos). The shape is a simple barrel roll clutch, which is what you want for this exotic. At Madison for $530. (Note: Madison's website calls this "Stringray", I confirmed with the designer, this is real stingray, I think it is a typo but can't explain why it is in "quotes").

Jennifer Aniston's Favorite Ferragamo

jennifer-aniston_ferragamo_2.pngferragamo_mediterraneoalce.png

Jennifer Aniston has been sporting different Ferragamo bags lately, and now she is on the set of her latest movie, Bounty Hunter with Gerard Butler, wearing the Mediterraneo Alce Satchel. Ferragamo suits her style, not fussy, trendy or edgy. She has a true classical sensibility, nothing too exciting or snazzy but she always looks sophisticated - clean and crisp (kinda like her diet, she has a great body but she works hard for it!). This satchel is a bit too conservative, almost briefcase like, but as you can see, it does slouch to give it some charm when carried. It is always fun to funk up an old fashioned piece, you get more grit from the contrast. Distressed jeans and crazy high feminine stilettos would be perfect! Great option for those who have a job that requires strict professionalism but still want some semblance of style. At Neiman Marcus for $1650.

UPDATE: There is a gorgeous taupey beige at Saks Fifth Avenueicon. So much nicer than the black!

Snob or Slob? Britney Spears' Mulberry 'Daria' hobo

britneymulberry.jpg I am not a Britney fan but always rooted for her comeback. If anything, I felt sorry for her. The pressure of being in the public eye would take its toll on anyone, let alone a young woman adjusting to the life of motherhood.  God knows what the camera would have caught us doing post partum.  It looks like Brit is finally back on track, personally and professionally.  She's also done some serious shopping on her European tour-- she's carrying the new Mulberry "Daria" bag in cerise ostrich while holding her younger son, Jayden.  The hobo shape is casually slouchy and the braided handle is a nice touch but I wish that giant logo wasn't there.  Placing it smack dab in the center of a luscious ostrich bag just doesn't make any sense to me!  The "Daria" hobo is 16"x18" and costs $3,150 retail at your local Mulberry store.
What do you think?  Snob or Slob?  (the bag, not Britney)

Nancy Gonzalez Grommet Croc Clutch on Hayden Panettiere

nancygonzalez_grommetclutch.png hayden_panettiere_nancygonzalez.jpgHayden Panettiere wore the Nancy Gonzalez crocodile clutch with self covered grommets on MTV to promote her movie, I Love You, Beth Cooper. This clutch is not out yet (we did a Fall Preview of this clutch back in April), but Tina and I both have it, we were the first to get our greedy little hands on this most kick ass clutch Nancy Gonzalez has ever made. So much so that both of us re-ordered in other colors as soon as we got the first ones! Hayden has the purple, which as you can see is phenomenal - it is the same as the one we saw in the showroom, perhaps the exact same one, maybe she got it on loan? I got it in gunmetal gray and Tina has it in liquid black, which is a sueded crocodile with a textured metallic gold finish. This clutch does not get left alone, I almost don't want to take it out sometimes because I am constantly being accosted! It is $1500 and should be in stores by the end of the month (I will confirm). Shop for Nancy Gonzalez at Saks Fifth Avenueicon.

Kate loves her Elsa clutch from Derek Lam

katedereklamclutch.jpgMy favorite clutch of the moment is Derek Lam's Elsa in gray python, apparently it is Kate's as well. She has been seen clutching it on many occasions (yesterday at a London club opening) and if you owned this clutch you'd understand why.  It just has that je ne sais quoi-ness to it-- you know what I mean, it's cool without trying, just like Kate.

I use it several times a week myself, it is ultra functional and edgy chic to boot.  It instantly hips up any outfit I have on, even if it's a boring shift dress.

I was told the Elsa in gray python sold out mere days after it was posted here two months ago.  If you missed out, try calling Wayne and see if he can find one from somewhere for you.  If not, you can order it in bubblegum for resort 2010!

Call Wayne at 212-966-1616 or email him here.

Frugal Snob: Molly Sims in Fullum & Holt

mollyinfullum.jpgMolly Sims looking effortlessly stylish while out shopping for sunglasses. Her casual look of leather jacket with jeans was capped off with a rocker chic bag by Fullum & Holt (a name you need to know about). Crafted from supple lambskin, Fullum & Holt's "Oversized Spiral" retails for $600 and is available in black and cream as well as a smaller version, the "Half Spiral" which retails for $575 (they look like pillows and I kinda want to cuddle).

The collection can be purchased online at Fullum Boutique here, as well as at select retail outlets for $480 - $720.

About Fullum & Holt designer: Recognized for his eccentric leather cuts, his sophisticated tailoring and his outright fascination for everything that's unconventional, Denis Gagnon is, without a doubt, one of the most important Canadian designers in this day and age.

Kelly Lin with Kotur d'Abo clutch

kelkotur1.jpgOne of my very best friends, famed Asian actress Kelly Lin, carried a stunning Kotur gold snake d'Abo clutch with a red hot Versace gown to the Shanghai International Film festival this weekend. I gave her the clutch and knew it would look fabulous on her (if you must know, it was a trade-- we have been trading things in our closets for about 13 years-- it's so strange that we fit into each other's clothes even though I'm 6 inches shorter!). There is a lot of rumours about Kel's love interest, many of you have even emailed me about it and all I have to say is she is very happy ;)

If you are a Kelly Lin fan, you must check out her award nominated performance in 'The Sparrow'. I'm so proud of her!

Kotur clutches have long been a red carpet favorite in Hollywood, I'm happy to see Kelly rocking my favorite style from the line even better than the LA girls.

Check out the d'Abo here on Kotur's website.

Taryn Rose Croc Bag on Melissa George

tiffany_melissageorge_tarynrose.png

I went to the Tiffany / Vogue party for the introduction of the new Key Collection. I covered this event on Jewel Snob (yes! we have brought back Jewel Snob and it is all new and super exciting!!). I met Melissa George (Sadie Harris on Grey's Anatomy and Laura on In Treatment) at the party and she had the most stunning and adorable crocodile bag with ash colored topaz beaded strap. I was totally amazed when she told me it was by Taryn Rose. I only know of Taryn Rose for their sensible comfortable shoes, not their bags! If only their shoes were as cute at this bag, I would be able to walk and look good at the same time!! It is a simple flap bag with no logos or detail other than the strap, which of course makes the bag. I am in the process of contacting Taryn Rose to bring you more information about this bag and possibly an entire bag collection. I will do an update when I find out more!

Celeb Snob: Jimmy Choo Kase

evanrachelwood.jpgkaseclutchchoo.jpg
fallkase.jpgI can't get over how flawless Evan Rachel Wood's skin is. Does she not look like some sort of science fiction robot? I mean who looks like that!?!? Her crazy beautiful alabaster skin is amazing and her newly dyed red hair really sets it off better than her original color. Enough envy over the skin of a 21 year old, what I'm really I'm freaking out about is her fabulous Gucci Fall 2009 dress with feather details and Jimmy Choo Kase clutch. The clutch is streamlined and chic (the one pictured was from last season, the one she has is the black onyx Fall 09 version)-- actually reminds me of a space ship. Mayber hers. $1,495 at Jimmy Choo stores.  The crystal embellished version is also for Fall 09, so fabulous!

Michell Obama Wears VBH

MichelleObama_vbh.png

Michelle Obama is not one for the obvious when it comes to fashion. She is understated and tasteful so appropriately, she shows up in New York in a VBH Ballerina Clutch in Colbalt Blue Satin ($1500). She contrasts her LBD with this bright clutch that totally pops. Who knew she was such a Bag Snob? I mean, only those in the know can appreciate what VBH is all about - quality, simplicity and subtlety but oh-so stylish!
