Vanessa Hudgens in JJ Winters' Multi Zipper Bag

hudgens.jpgjj winters zip.jpg

Did Vanessa Hudgens think that all the zippers on her JJ Winters Multi Zipper Bag ($439) would distract from the fact that she wearing barely -- if any -- pants? Well, she kind of succeeded actually! There is way too much going on with this bag. It's like Christian Louboutin's Pillow Medium Softy Satchel and BCBG's Urban Rock Zipper Clutch on steroids. The multiple zippers are headache-inducing; I don't like the contrasting colors and not only does the bag not zip closed, it's wide open on the top. My vote on this one is a slob.

Serena van der Woodsen in Mulberry's Bayswater Suede Bag

I'm a little upset with Gossip Girl at the moment; not only have the story lines gotten increasingly unrealistic (and this is coming from someone who grew-up going to an Upper East Side private school and graduated from college just a few years ago), but Blake Lively's character Serena keeps wearing the most RIDICULOUS outfits! Slutty cocktail dresses in the middle of the day!? No. Just NO. Given this you can imagine my surprise when, in character, Lively was photographed on set in the above outfit sporting the Mulberry Bayswater suede bag ($995). Versatile, age-appropriate, and well-priced, my only beef with the bag is the crocodile-stamped suede which I think cheapens it a bit.

Heidi Montag in Chloe Sally Flap Bag

Staying focused on Heidi Montag's bag when she's wearing THAT outfit and THOSE boots -- not easy, let me tell you! Here goes though. Montag is sporting the Chloe 'Sally' Flap Bag ($1,995), which doesn't strike me as a very convenient travel bag, but rather a perfectly sized day-to-night one (at least for those that don't have hugely over-sized wallets like myself). The bag definitely has a vintage feel to it especially given the turn-lock closure and textured leather, and I like that it can't immediately be recognized as a Chloe (like say the Paraty). That said I am surprised at the price-point. I would put this bag at a few hundred dollars less.

Leonna Lewis in Deux Lux Ruffle Bag

Kudos to singer/songwriter and winner of The X Factor, Leona Lewis, for going frugal-chic! Above the songbird is pictured at the airport sporting the Deux Lux Ruffle Bucket Bag that retails for $68 at Urban Outfitters. Finally a ruffle bag that is appropriately priced! The Bucket Bag comes in a few different colors and is relatively wide (18"l, 3.5"w, 12"h), which makes it good for travel. Obviously it's from Urban Outfitters so you can forget about leather; polyurethane was used to make this bag. Truth be told I haven't been to an Urban Outfitters in years and personally I would not wear or buy this bag, but as far as frugal finds go this strikes me as fun find. Plus we all know that in a few months none of us will be wanting to sport ruffle bags, so why splurge?

Gretchen Mol's Magnes Sisters Gallery Tote

The Magnes Sisters Gallery Tote ($418) that Gretchen Mol is pictured wearing in the photo above comes in a variety of colors including white, red, blue, and black. I don't love the briefcase-esque handles , but worn with the strap it looks like a chic day-bag (though I imagine finding things in this tote, given it's rectangular shape, is probably not the quickest fete). There are some nice hardware details as well and I like the contrasting colors.

Jamie Lynn Sigler in Bulga's Savile

Above Jamie Lynn Sigler is pictured all smiles in her Bulga Fall/Winter 2009 Savile ($545). This strikes me as an easy-to-wear, well-priced everyday bag. It comes with plenty of pocket room, small handles, and a larger strap for convenience and Bulga's leather is usually softer than that of most other similarly priced contemporary designer bags (like the ones from Marc by Marc Jacobs, for example). The only thing I don't like is that the bag is lined with this colorful paisley print (eeck!).

Catherine Zeta-Jones' Mystery Bag

zetajonesbag.jpg
Been very busy this week, flew back to LA from Asia and went to work immediately while severely jet lagged. We attended the Women's Conference (with 50 amazing and inspirational speakers!) on behalf of Glam in addition to doing a lot of market research work (code for shopping on Rodeo). We have not had much time to blog but will be back to regular schedule next week! Meanwhile, I thought I'd share a few laughs with you. I came across this photo and almost spit out my cupcake-- what is this hideous thing Catherine Zeta-Jones is carrying? I have no idea what brand this is so please help us identify this god-awful bag! I think Catherine just carries whatever is free cuz she has a really weird collection of bags and I can't really imagine anyone actually paying for this hideous mismatched patchwork bag, can you?

Emily Blunt in Gryson Violet Deep Wine

Thank goodness for the Gryson Violet in Deep Wine ($775) that Emily Blunt is sporting otherwise the stand-out star from The Devil Wears Prada would be wearing a serious disaster of an outfit (note that the images above were shot on the set of her new film so she's in character). I've been noticing that a lot of fashionable ladies have been opting for bolder color bags this season (the Violet is available in a variety of colors).

What do you think about the shade of Blunt's Gryson?

Tinsley Mortimer's Leopord Jimmy Choo: Snob or Slob?

Leopard was a big trend at the Spring Summer 2010 runway shows, so it seems that, at least for now, the bold print is here to stay. On the left Tinsley Mortimer is pictured in a Leopard Jimmy Choo clutch which I think does a great job of spicing-up her outfit. Does anyone else think we have Kate Moss to thank (or blame...depending on your stance), for this trend? Every time I see Moss in a leopard bag, jacket or booties I swoon at how effortless she makes something that could so easily look tacky, look so damn hot! That said I think Tinsley Mortimer demonstrates that the key thing with leopard is wearing it in small doses and with under-stated accompanying pieces.

Celeb Fave: Lunch a la Mode

trattoria.jpgbistro.jpg

What will they think of next is all I could think when I first heard about Lunch a la Mode. The new contemporary handbag line was created by Amber Pollard as an alternative to the brown paper bags many people carry their lunches in. Already spotted on the likes of Perrey Reeves (Ari's wife on HBO's Entourage) and Melora Hardin (Jan on The Office) who both use Pollard's bags to carry their meals to the set, the current Lunch a la Mode collection includes the Bistro shoulder bag, Alfresco shoulder bag, Picnic hobo, and Trattoria tote. Each style comes with an insulated and removable lunch pouch, a mesh ice pack pouch, a beverage holder, and two reusable ice packs. The handbags are made from leather, patent leather as well as eco-friendly vegan leather, or hemp suede and are available in a variety of colors, including buttercream, anise, oyster, caramello and rum raisin (prices range from $270 - $588).The bags themselves don't make that powerful of a statement, but they're good for an everyday bag and if you really do bring your lunch to work everyday, how fab is this!?
