Victoria Beckham told me she loves women, and she wants them to feel confident when they get dressed in the morning. And confident she is: she executed her latest collection with the firm certainty of a well-seasoned designer. There is nothing too fussy going on here. Just beautiful clothes executed to tuck in all the parts a woman wants to tuck in, while ensuring she still feels entirely in her own skin. For past seasons, her skin-skimming dresses did just that (most of my VB dresses require the help of both the boy and hubby to zip me in). This season, Victoria is feeling more relaxed. Perhaps it’s because after 10 seasons, she’s already proven she is a designer to be contended with. Gone are the fully body-conscious silhouettes, and in their place, a new softness. Rounded shoulders offer the illusion of an hourglass silhouette, no waist-refining corsets required.
That’s not to say these rather lengthy dresses aren’t sexy – deep V-necklines and strategic center slits ensure they are. They’re just subtler, more sensuous. And I never expected to find houndstooth so feminine and appealing! Blended with bright-blue ponyhair, it makes for my favorite coat of the collection. Mid-calf skirt lengths might read serious at first look, but these pieces have real verve. She brightened up the rich fall hues with a couple pops of lemon-merengue yellow (there’s always a great yellow in VB’s collections, like on my Victoria tote) and enlisted the use of ponyskin for great texture play. Texture also came by way of the bags: the Victoria satchel looks great in various colors (plumy oxblood, rusty orange, and midnight-cobalt) and skins. And you can always count on Victoria to style everything down to a T; as roomy as the doctor-esque bags are, she’s still encouraging women to casually clutch them, rather than grip the handles.
Fall ’13 also introduced the Victoria’s playful side. Greeting her backstage after the show, she was happy and smiling. Wouldn’t you be? A successful career as a fashion designer, a brood of adorable kids, and oh, yes, there’s that gorgeous husband. Yes, I’d say Mrs. Beckham is in a very good place, indeed.

Thanks for posting! This was from start to finish, perfect collection, so beautifully executed, and my goodness all those bags gave a run for the money to those stunning coats!
The way the models are carrying the handbags, (holding the bottom of the bag) looks awkward, uncomfortable and self-conscious, which are not qualities I would want to convey. I’m sure the handbags are of high quality and some might consider them chic, but the effect of the presentation is pretentious.
