The whimsy of Lanvin is often imitated and rarely achieved. Snobs know that only the real thing will do. When other brands do luxe kitsch, it just looks cheap. I was indignant this last Christmas over a certain $600 Frostie the Snowman change purse (those two zeros should have come after a decimal point!), but a clutch with an Eiffel Tower appliqué? Yes, please – I’ll take it! Lanvin manages to amuse and captivate with intricate beading and crystals, and pulls it all off thanks to gorgeous workmanship. The choice to make the beading gold elevates the design and adds a sense of French sophistication. You could carry it as a clutch, but use the shoulder strap to really show it off. Its pastel sky blue hue is timely for spring, and what’s better than spring in Paris?? I’m actually en route to the French capital as you read this. I’ll be spending Fashion Week in my favorite city on earth! On NET-A-PORTER for $1,985.
