I know I’ve said this before when it’s come to Maison Martin Margiela, probably more so than any other designer: this is totally impractical but so fun. Tired of hard edges? This so-called clutch will spin you right round, if you’re up for the challenge. Not to mention up for tossing your bulkier belongings, or at least leaving them at home while you hit the town.
This large disc is probably best for a DJ to store records. Or at least for a disco queen to score points from the crowd for her unusual bag. I wouldn’t use it as an actual clutch (it’s just confusing to the eye), but with the strap, this piece is showy and attention-getting. It also packs a few surprises, and I’m not just talking about the golden lining. It comes with a lot of organization (separate metallic pouch included), especially for a bag that is otherwise not very functional. On Net-a-Porter for $1,095.
Pair with: Choose a shoe that’s chic and understated, like Saint Laurent’s covetable Paris boot. Black suede suddenly has new appeal. At Barneys New York for $1,045.
