Chloé Perforated Medium Sennen Bag: Perforation Perfection
By Bag Snob Kelly on November 26, 2012 9:00 am Kelly Cook

While I’m a fan of bags that know how to catch a breeze, I’m not a fan of showing off my essentials to the world. Chloé has the answer: with the Sennen, you get the perforated look without airing out your dirty laundry.

The allover pattern of holes is punchy (pun intended) and capricious, but this bag is deceptively thoughtful. With a flap covering most of the body, your secrets are kept private and your style is unhindered. The whole effect is key, but for me, it’s the details that make this something special (it’s usually the details, isn’t it?). The strap is divine. Part-chain and part-leather, it’s an asymmetric standout, with the leather portion reaching over the shoulder for comfort. And – my favorite – the strap is removable, so it makes a great evening clutch. Just a smidge of hardware at the corners is there to give it definition and shape, and I wouldn’t change the color for the world. Chloé’s take on mahogany is gorgeous: it’s got the effect of red with the neutrality of brown. Order this now, look forward to it until spring, and remember, good things come to snobs who wait! Available for pre-order at Barneys New York for $2,195 (expect delivery in March).

Pair with: Snub the rules at your first garden party of the spring season by mixing a floral-meets-stripe dress, like this linen blend by Michael van der Ham, with a chicly rustic shoulder bag. On Net-a-Porter for $1,110.
