Gucci Spring 2013 Collection: Quintessential Renaissance
By Bag Snob Tina on September 19, 2012 4:28 pm Tina Craig

Bags from Gucci's Spring/Summer 2013 Fashion Show in Milan

With beautifully belled and layered sleeves in eye-quenching shades of fruit-punch and flamingo pinks, cobalt blue, aqua-teal, and fresh-grass green, the Gucci runway poured out clean yet fluid lines. The mood is very retro, with large Jackie O-esque glasses and belted pantsuits (not unlike the polyester pantsuits my aunts loved wearing in the late ‘70s) and ‘60s mod-flavored dresses. Think Miami Beach in a more glamorous and demure time. The feathery prints speak of a breezy lifestyle, while the dedicated coordination says polish all the way. And don’t think the bags don’t match perfectly, as well! Monochrome (alongside palette-centric print) ruled the runway, sleek shoulder bags and clutches in leather and exotic skins included, complete with the two most iconic Gucci symbols: the horsebit rings and bamboo touches, to timeless effects. Peppered with Lucite box-clutches it is an understated and beautifully presented collection from Frida Giannini. I am obsessed with the matching python printed tunic and bag, both in graduated gray and taupe. The effect of doubled-up python: delicious. But, overall, Gucci plays it a bit too safe this season. I do love (and tend to expect) a bit of Gucci flash. I mean if the Italians won’t give it to me, who will?!

the bags are gorfeous but very reminiscent of the Hermes Sac Roulis…
