Top 5 Sightseeing Bags: Tour de Force
By Bag Snob Tina on June 5, 2012 12:00 pm Tina Craig

Less is more when it comes to sightseeing in the summer months. More convenient, that is. Whether you’re taking in the Colleseum or Great Wall, the Louvre or Prado, all you need is room for a bit of cash for souvenirs, hotel key, credit card and cell phone (leave your passport in the safe at the hotel, but carry some sort of ID on you).

After years of travel, I’m committed to just a couple styles when it comes my tourist time. Belt bags and flat, lightweight crossbody styles work best, hands down. And even better, hands-free! Not only do they keep you unencumbered, they’re harder for poachers to grab and steal off you. So roam free and in style, globetrotter!

1. Smythson Emily Sling Bag: Kelly snapped up the Emily in royal purple, but I’m going to add a splash of rich green to my suitcase this season.
At Barneys New York for $830.

2. Bag Snob x DKNY The Trendy Leather and Calf-Hair Shoulder Bag: We designed the Trendy to function as an exciting on-the-go staple. Wear this as a flirty belt bag for ultimate ease – at an unbeatable sale price!
On Net-a-Porter for $195 (from $325).

3. Diane von Furstenberg New Belt Textured-Leather Shoulder Bag: Strap on Diane’s delightfully neutral belt-shoulder convertible, and enjoy the casual comfort of the wide, paneled strap.
On Net-a-Porter for $207 (from $345).

4. MICHAEL Michael Kors Jet Set Travel Small Textured-Leather Shoulder Bag: A frugal gem that looks this chic and makes a perfect travel companion? You won’t want to leave home without it.
On Net-a-Porter for $180.

5. Marni Two-Pocket Bandoleer Messenger: Clean, flat, and boasting easy-access twin pockets for slipping in maps, tickets, and brochures, the Bandoleer begs for a trip abroad. If crisp white makes you nervous, black is sure to hide city grime.
At Barneys New York for $1,170.

I love your blog. I’m a self proclaimed bag hoarder and I always try to find ways to sell my old bags for room for newer ones. Lol. Smythson is my favorite.
