I fell for the bewitching Folk tote the moment I laid eyes on it at the McQueen showroom in Paris (and not just because being there in person gave me a serious case of McQueen fever). Now I’m even more positive the Folk is a fierce competitor. With a completely different vibe, the clutch version is equally mesmerizing.
Just the right amount of that wicked, ever-so slightly earthy whipstitching is the perfect embellishment for an oversized clutch. Hand-woven and hard to take your eyes off, it elevates simplistic black leather into the realm of an enviable investment piece. But, unfortunately, the heft is also something of an investment. There’s nothing worse than carrying around a clutch that weighs more than a newborn. I do wish there was a removable skinny shoulder strap. Then this slice of folk art could become permanent arm candy. At Alexander McQueen for $1,545.
