V73 Canvas Printed Tote: It’s Like Déjà vu All Over Again
By Bag Snob Tina on January 5, 2012 9:00 am Tina Craig

I’ll look for any excuse to quote “Clueless,” so to paraphrase Cher: V73, this tote is just a lawsuit waiting to happen! I’m all for cheeky pop art when it’s in the right context. And let’s be realistic, few brands can resist doing a little Hermès play every now and again, but this feels unoriginal even for a conscious knockoff!

Humorous, yes. And this printed canvas tote isn’t even bad-looking if we’re going solely on aesthetics (the large, flared shape is nice and the metal strap charm breathes a hint of life). The etching of the quintessential Hermès satchel is actually a pretty well-drawn depiction. But hasn’t the whole “clever joke on a Birkin, the most sought-after bag in history” thing been done to death?

What say you, snobs? Egregious (and annoying) copy or sassy prank?

On Luisa via Roma for $265.

They’re actually the second company to do this, and the first got sued by Hermes and forced to stop production so the “original” ones popped up all over ebay…we’ll see if v73 has the same funeral!

^ No, this is probably the 3rd company — Banane Taipei did it first even before the LA brand Thursday Friday did it last year. Banane Taipei is also being sued right now by Hermès. The bag is not bad looking but it is kinda pricey for a canvas tote. I prefer the Thursday Friday bag.

Me too! Prefer the Thursday Friday bag. It is the perfect anti-staus bag and affordable and super practical as well. <3 it!

I do not know why anyone would want to purchase something like this. If you want a canvas bag they have several cute options that are not trying to rip another designer off.

It’s not Banana Taipei but an Italian Company

I don’t think a lawsuit has a leg to stand on because it is clearly NOT a birkin and it doesn’t say Hermes on it anyway. But the reason I am posting is because HOLY COW THE PRICE!!! For a canvas tote!!! Talk about a scam.
