The Five Essentials: Featuring Rachel Zoe
By Bag Snob Tina on November 14, 2011 12:00 pm Tina Craig

Ever since I spotted her carrying carrying vintage Hermès bags with just about everything, Rachel Zoe has been one of my very favorite stylists. Not only was I inspired by her inimitable sense of glamour, but she is a snob after my own heart!

The catchphrase-inspiring fashion star behind the red-carpet queens (she’s produced measureless Hollywood moments, for leading ladies from Demi Moore to Anne Hathaway to Kate Hudson) possesses an exceptional personal style to say the least. Her masterly mix of vintage and new, high and low has been coveted by celebs and emulated by other stylists, but make no mistake: there is only one Rachel Zoe.

It might have something to do with the fact that Rachel is as energetically go-getting as she is talented. Since becoming a mom last year, she has not slowed down a bit – and somehow looks chicer than ever! Now with baby Skylar, a popular new ready-to-wear and accessories collection sold all over the countryicon, and a hit TV show, we’re just wondering what this woman can’t do! I have a feeling the answer is nada. Scroll down to see our review of her stunning new bag collection, and read on to find out her must-have Five Essentials:

Gucci “Seventies” Large Tote: I love this tote it’s a total throw back to the 70s. It looks super vintage and it’s the perfect size. Plus it has a zip closure which is great because I always overstuff my bags!

Louis Vuitton Keepall 45: I never travel without it! Seriously, whether I’m packing for a weekend in Malibu, a week in Paris or month in the Hamptons – I always travel with a carry on. This is a totally manageable size and it’s so classic – I especially love mine because it’s monogrammed.

Hermes Crocodile Birkin: I mean nothing says exotic more than a little crocodile and I’m pretty sure there is nothing in the fashion world more treasured than a Birkin! This bag is seriously insane. The ultimate statement of luxury, glamour and sophistication. Birkins are for me the most timeless bag on the market, next to Kellys of course.

Givenchy Antigona bag: I carry this bag every day! For me it’s the perfect size, granted mine is constantly overflowing, because I can’t jam too much into it. I love the mixed but tonal textures of the suede and leather. I especially love this bag now that I’m a mom because it’s hands free!

Lanvin Python: I like a structured clutch for evening – its so chic and refined. I especially love the python mixed with the tortoise and gold plating – it’s luxurious yet kind of edgy

Love Rachel, but shouldn’t she have featured at least one of her bags?

John, are you sure your name isn’t Rodger? Or Mandana? Let’s see how many seasons Zoe’s line of crap actually lasts!

I disagree. Even HIGH END designers promote their brand by wearing pieces from their own collection. Victoria Beckham wears her dresses and carries her bags almost every time we see her. Jessica Simpson is even seen carrying her plastic handbags.
It would just be nice to see Rachel actually wearing her clothes, shoes, and handbags.

I suppose Rachel didn’t promote her brand because as a true fashionista she probably doesn’t feel worthy. She listed Haute Couture designers who have longevity and an impeccable reputation. I say that loosely about Louis Vuitton. I had a not so pleasant experience recently. Rachel Zoe is an amateur who is sort of throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks. Regarding Jessica Simpson’s. I am major major impressed by her line. Her line is always on trend. No i wouldn’t buy one of her bags because I am truly a bag snob. But I have to admitI have seen some stylish pieces in her line. I actually own three pair of her shoes. They aren’t the most comfortable shoe but they are very very cute. Victoria is her brand. So of course we would expect her to sport her own line.

This is one of the top “5 Essentials” entries. I can’t argue with any of the items on her list.

Having read about Rachel Zoe at harper’s Bazaar issue, I can see now why she made these choices.

I like her choices but I am partial to the Nightengale over the Antigona. Still haven’t earned my first Hermes.
