Burberry Ada Herringbone Raffia Clutch: White (and Black) Lines

Burberry‘s take on herringbone is uncharacteristically trippy, and it’s only enhanced by the unusual – and very pleasing – use of woven raffia. Introducing the traditionally fall pattern to the spring-centric material makes for a pair that gets along famously – the outcome of the Ada is a bag that can float through the seasons. Oversized enough to avoid any sense of preciousness, this is one of those daytime-appropriate clutches you will actually use.

Frayed ends bring in an earthy touch, which is just what this sort of print needs to feel fresh (herringbone used to be stuffy; with the help of Ferragamo and other whip-smart designers, it now has a new lease on life). The thin buckled strap, tailored to perfection, maintains Burberry’s sense of decorum. But it’s that fantastically light-hearted wristlet (detach it and you’ve got a new clutch on your hands) that takes the brand’s pattern play to an energizing new level. It reminds me of summer camp lanyard – and that’s somehow such a good thing! This ladylike clutch isn’t afraid of playing in the grass. On Net-a-Porter for $750.

Pair with: As versatile as it is, this bag has resort written all over it. Wear it with something that says pow! Giuseppe Zanotti’s ruched chiffon platform pump has a delicate touch and a hot watermelon hue. At Bergdorf Goodmanicon for $750.
