Bag Snob x DKNY Trendy Bag: Taken With the Trendy
By Bag Snob Tina
November 16, 2011

Had to re-post this– they’re finally at Net-a-porter.com! The tote and clutch have sold out– get your hands on a trendy asap!

It’s ironic that a bag called the “Trendy” is hands down, one of my favorite bags of all time. But here it is, Bag Snob x DKNY Trendy bag, and I couldn’t be happier! We wanted to design a fun, stylish bag to appeal to snobs of all ages. Easier said than done, but we did it: the concept of being on trend has just become timeless. This bag was inspired by my young friend, Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes.com, based on a conversation we had a couple of years ago. I questioned her lack of a bag at one of our lunch-and-shopping dates. Her response? “I’m constantly on the move, I can’t let a bag slow me down!” Well, you know those are stabbing words to a bag snob’s ears! And so began my mission to design a bag to change her mind.

Enter the belt bag. Kelly and I grew up in the eighties, a time when belt bags (okay they were called fanny packs– cringe!) were the rage but not very cute. The Trendy will change everything you thought you knew about said belt bags.  It comes with two convertible straps: one in leather (15” long) to use as a belt or shoulder bag and one pale gold chain (19”) to wear cross-body. Made of grey leopard calf hair and black calfskin, this is a true day-to-night bag. Run errands all day wearing it as a belt bag, leaving your hands free and unencumbered; for cocktails later, clip on the gold chain and dance the night away. I travel with this bag all the time! At 9” by 6.5” by 2.5”, it fits my large, 8” Kelly Longue wallet plus a cell phone. I used it throughout New York and Paris Fashion Weeks and was constantly stopped by people asking who designed it (and I have to admit, I am filled with joy every time I utter the words, “We did!”). And now it’s a favorite of celebrities and bloggers alike!

Coming soon to Net-a-Porter for $325 (yes, that’s for genuine calf hair, we wanted to keep prices low because we know bag snobs come in all different budgets!).

Pair with: Take the Trendy for a night out on the town with Iro‘s sequined-sprayed Cloe dress. Distressed and charcoal, the sequins are mellow and so is the jersey cut, so it shines while allowing the Trendy to shine even more. On Net-a-Porter for $635.

I don’t think DKNY bags were ever on my radar until now. But I still would like to see this in person before I commit. When will it be at the stores?

Oh this is very cute! We have some animal print handbags on our site which are strong sellers but I think all designers could learn a lesson from this little baby!

I’m so surprised how cheap looking this whole collection looks. It looks like something I’d find at a store like Khols.

Really shocked that this colab did not look better. The leather or pleather on the main bodies looks really cheap.

If a designer sent this line for you and Kelly to see, you’d both laugh and roll your eyes.

Can’t believe people think these bags look great?!

I just got my trendy bag this week and I love it! It’s so well thought out with the multi strap/chain options. the belt bag option is surprisingly my favorite way of wearing it!

I just bought a waist bag from a consignment store. I can’t wait to be hands free this summer especially walking my dogs to starbucks. Walking home with 2 dogs and a hot coffee will be do-able now.
