Anya Hindmarch Maxi Zip Backpack: What Goes Around Comes Around
By Bag Snob Kelly on November 4, 2011 9:00 am Kelly Cook

Anya does it again: brilliantly bringing functionality to fashionistas with her effortless air. This is literally the cutest nylon backpack that’s hit the scene since early-nineties Prada (seems like eons ago, doesn’t it?), but this time with a thoughtfulness that was lacking the first go-round.

This black backpack isn’t non-negotiable. With detachable canvas shoulder straps and a long-ish leather handle (also removable), it converts without looking awkward. Switch up the straps to go from classic rucksack to bona fide satchel, with no evidence of the bag’s double life to be detected.

Gunmetal hardware goes with everything and then some; leather-tassel zipper pulls add a hint of luxury; and under the flap, find slots for easy-access items like a metro pass. Anya Hindmarch’s straps are also fashioned so you can easily sling it over one shoulder without slippage. Genius for moms and city girls who run around and accomplish 100 tasks in a day. With the Maxi backpack, you might just be able to pull off 110. On ShopBop for $795.

Pair with: A decent heel with a rubber-crepe sole means you can look chic and still move fast. Belle Sigerson Morrison’s lace-up booties are in pony hair, so they bring something special to the equation. On Ssense for $400.
