Milan Fashion Week Trend: Farmer’s Market Inspired
By Bag Snob Sharon on September 26, 2011 9:00 am Sharon Feiereisen

I have a soft spot for fruit prints (one of my favorite Spring 2011 purchases was the Stella McCartney citrus print clutch); they scream Spring, but feel so much fresher and more original than florals. Plus I feel like they reflect my personality given that a good 75% of what I eat falls into the fruits and vegetable category! Unfortunately produce don’t inspire many fashion designers and I don’t blame them…fruits and veggies don’t exactly make for the chic-est fashions! Given all of this my face lid up with excitement when I saw the Spring 2012 Moschino Cheap & Chic and Dolce & Gabbana collections -both of which were filled with more farmer’s market inspired prints and embellishments than I could count (I’m talking garlic clove earrings and carrot-shaped buttons!). Of the two Moschino took the cake however when it came to their fruit and veggie-inspired handbags…I mean how adorable are they?? Are they going to replace your everyday Celine? Of course not, but every so often it’s fun to be playful with our fashion choices and while we might not all be ready for a full-on eggplant-print cocktail dress, who couldn’t stand to add one of these to their accessories arsenal?
