Take your time with this one. Tom Binns‘ large, unslouchy hobo is the type of bag that requires some getting used to. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the directional jewel designer, known for decadent heaps of safety pins, tangled pearl strands, and acidic neon-painted crystals. It’s only a logical move for a designer like him to produce a bag bedecked from top to bottom in cone studs. I love his singular take on jewels, and suffice to say, the more I look at this funkily shaped bag, the more I like it.
The measurements sound big (27″ x 14.5″), but this metal-covered leather bag is sculpted in gentle, sloping curves so it doesn’t feel cumbersome. However, the combination of the bag’s flatness and its bottom-heavy shape will make it very difficult to find anything, as its all sure to lump to the bottom. An exciting, if impractical (typical of the visionary Binns!) first bag effort – I’m intrigued to see what heavy-metal creation he’s set to whip up next. On ShopBop for $1,375.

Looks like a feed bag. And it must weigh a ton with all those jewels. SLOB.
WOW…the blackbird withing me is extremely taken!
