Snobworthy iPad Cases: I Rest My Case

Fashion and technology go hand-in-hand. These days, rarely will you spot a quick-typing and front row-perching editrix who doesn’t own – or carry – and iPad. I know I take mine everywhere (along with MacBook, iPhone, and several chargers to make for an entire family of appliances!). While designers are starting to catch on and make bags with specially designed pockets (L’Wren Scott, for one), the snob-worthy iPad case has fast become an essential. Now, it might seem crazy to spend more on the case than on the actual technology, but the fashion editor is all about aesthetics! And this mix proves high style doesn’t necessarily require a high price.

Jimmy Choo‘s elaphe snakeskin ($795) is so textural and appealing, you might end up just staring at it instead of your iPad. Or the Frugal Snob alternative: snake-effect leather by Michael Michael Kors ($130) gets the job done for a fraction of the price. Valentino‘s mirror-slick taupe sleeve ($795) is as slick as your whisper-thin gadget. Black and white is a timeless combination, as seen on the vegetable tanned leather (with Turkish cotton-lined interior) on this take by WANT Le Essentials de la Vie ($295). And too timid to carry a bright orange bag that will make everyone stare? You can get a little crazy with your case – leave it to Valextra to merge kicky color and classic sophistication ($740).

I really like the Valextra, but these cost just as much as the iPad.

The questions is what would you do with a $ 800 cover when the next gen ipad comes out…

Excellent point ac. I love the Jimmy Choo one, but I’ll stick the smart cover and a neoprene case (and have money left over for a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes!). This is one luxury I have no interest in.

I agree about aesthetics. I am definitely investing in one of these fabulous suggestions. Proves I’m a devout bag snob!
