Meet the lovely Lauren Bush tomorrow (Friday May 6th) at Bergdorf Goodman to see the limited edition FEED 1000 clutch she created exclusively for Bergdorfs with Judith Leiber. The Italian linen clutch has a beaded front panel and is coated with metallic foil to give your evenings a bit of sparkle. $250 of each clutch sold ($495) will benefit Lauren Bush’s FEED Projects, an organization that has already provided over 58 million meals to those in need in an effort to relieve world hunger!
I love that she used her FEED x Judith Leiber clutch at the Met gala this week. This is a girl who practices what she preaches! We asked her to share her favorite Five Essentials bags with us, jump to see her choices!

The FEED 1 bag is my favorite tote bag for many reasons. For one, it is the bag that I designed that started FEED. Each bag sold FEEDs one child in school for one year in the poorest countries around the world. The bag itself is great (I am biased, of course) because it is sturdy, its reversible, its made of eco-friendly materials, it fits as much as you want to carry, and it stands for something more than just a bag.

The FEED Health backpack is unique in that it is a backpack that also converts to become a messenger bag. The bag itself is made of recycled nylon, so it is functional and eco-friendly. For every bag sold, a Community Health Worker is given an identical bag that is then used to delivery vital grassroots healthcare to people in rural Africa.

The FEED 2 Kenya bag is my favorite ‘exotic’ bag as it is made by artisans in Kenya. Each bag takes a day and a half to bead the FEED logo. It is lined in Masai fabric, which is traditionally used to ward off lions. This bag combines traditional Kenyan materials and hand-beading, but done in a modern way.

Fun and trendy are the FEED 1 Guatemala pouches. The pouches are also made by artisans in Guatemala, using the traditional and very colorful Guatemalan ikat fabric. The pouches are lively, useful, and come in an array of colors. It is fun to wear the color that resonates most that day.
I love the new Judith Leiber FEED 1000 clutch for many reasons. For one is a the most fancy FEED bag yet made of metallic linen, hand beading, and the stamped “FEED 1000″. Each bag gives 1000 school meals, making it the most generous FEED bag yet. I also like that there is a chain, so you can wear the bag across your body and not have to worry about carrying it all night.
