Dress Up with THE OUTNET.com

A few weeks ago The Outnet.com flew me to NYC for a very special event– to play dress up with fabulous items featured on their website. I spend my days behind a computer blogging about bags so it’s a rare opportunity that I get to play dress up in front of the camera wearing my favorite designers so of course I jumped at the chance! I styled the shoot and chose my faves from Balmain (top, leather pants), Alaia (shoes) and Marc Jacobs (sick purple dress!). I just wish I could play dress up every day in their closet!

The day at the studio was so much fun– I felt like a giddy little kid playing with all the beautiful clothes and accessories (a kid with the best make up artist and hair stylist in the city that is). The Outnet team could not have been more gracious throughout the week– thank you so much for an amazing trip! Check out my must have designer goodies discounted up to 85% off at The Outnet.com here. I just have to warn you, it’s highly addictive!

My Chic Chat Interview with The Outnet.com:

The Outnet.com: Accessories! What we should be buying right now?

Me: It’s all about statement bags, shoes and jewelry. That one special piece that updates your style and gives your whole look a sense of purpose.

The Outnet.com: What do your accessories say about you?

Me: They are the best way to show your individuality. Anyone can pull on a dress, but it’s how one accessorizes that gives it that individual touch. A shoe or bag can completely change the connotation of a garment. And personal style is all about how people put their clothing and accessories together.

The Outnet.com: The power of luxury accessories?

Me: They act as confidence boosters. It’s not about showing off – even if no one else knows it’s a luxury piece, you do, and that’s what matters. Luxury accessories are also wise investments.

The Outnet.com: Speaking of wise investments – how to buy bags you’ll love forever?

Me: There are things you can do when buying a bag to ensure you’ll love it: Look for well-made bags in leather or exotic skin. Remember fabric fades and fur is seasonal. Turn the bag inside out and look at the stitching. If it’s tight and evenly done, the bag won’t lose shape. Always look for timeless shapes in simple design. Fringe and studs may seem cool this year, but you may cringe in few seasons later. If you follow these guidelines, you won’t end up with an impulse purchase. You’ll find a bag you will cherish for years, making it worth the investment.

Tina, you wore the ensembles with aplomb. You look absolutely amazing and an inspiration to all frazzled moms that we can also look this good (well, I hope to anyway!).

    Marlene,

That is so kind of you. If you saw me right now, blogging in my son’s hand me down army style coat you’d think differently… :)

Seriously though, hair, make up and a bit of Balmain does wonders…

Actually you’ve given me an idea for videos– taking busy moms from frazzled to fabulous– I’m known to do my make up in the car and changing into different clothes while the hubby drives us from kiddie events to cocktail parties. I can share those tips…

    what do you think? lol

    xoxo

Funnily enough, Tina, I was going to mention to you about doing more videos but my daughter kept distracting me while I was typing the previous post. See?…frazzled is my middle name! I’ve admired your immaculate make up and fashion sense (love your clothes) for years. Furthermore, I’ve always enjoyed your videos so yes (!), something with plenty of fashion/beauty tips will go down with your audience.

p.s. I’m wearing my tattered Juicy suit while reading your blog so I’m no better.

Hi Lina, you mean with recipes & lifestyle tips??

I put up a Tumblr account to do that but haven’t had much time!

Anything else you’d like to see more of on the Snob sites?

    Xoxo

definitely lifestyle tips, favourite restaurants, secret places etc… I’ve received ‘Parisian Chic: A Style Guide by Ines de la Fressange’ today (already read it: tres chic!), hence the inspiration for a lifestyle website. I’m sure there are many things that you come across that are worth sharing: vintage boutiques hidden in the backstreet’s of Paris, your favourite restaurants across the world, Asian influences, etc.. I’d love to read about it all! If the website would be too much, how about a book? Just a thought! xoxo

Perhaps you should be my manager and manage all these ideas for me… I just don’t have enough time to do all that I would like to do…! Love your suggestions though.

I appreciate that, I think you’re already doing a huge amount work, plus you have a family to look after: you must be a Superwoman!I admire what you have created, you found a niche and you’re really successful doing what you love. I wish I had the courage to do something as amazing; at the moment I’m stuck with contract law…still enjoyable but not as much as having your own website that everyone is rushing to read every day!

Not many people can manage to look stunningly gorgeous and, at the same time, warm, kind and approachable! These pictures (and those I’ve seen on the blogs of your friends) confirm that you have the kind of personal style that many women including myself aspire to: ladylike, elegant, spirited, and classically modern. You never look like you’re trying to make a statement or embody a passing trend–your perfection seems natural and unstudied. So please indulge your admiring public and include more pictures of your outfits on this website!

That’s funny. I thought I was the only one who wore her sons’ clothing! I drag out this old army green mini messenger he used to carry his pokemon’s in. It has all these random patches sewn on it. I throw in my books and keys and off I go!

    Hmmm…seems I need a “weekend bag”, huh????
