Everyone has a morning routine. For most people, it involves coffee; for me, it involves fashion. I start each day on the WWW with WWD and WWWD. Say, what? That would be Women’s Wear Daily and Who What Wear Daily, of course – because once you get the latest fashion news, you must find out who is wearing it where! The must-read daily newsletter and blog, founded by Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power, is a lighthearted and spirited take on pulse-worthy styles and the world’s most popular trendsetters. With impeccable taste, a fresh take on fashion, and an even mix of high and low, they guide you to recreating your favorite runway, street style, and red carpet looks.
Now with a new book, What to Wear, Where, they coach you on looking stylish and appropriate in any situation. With a foreword by Nicole Richie and loads of snob-worthy ensembles modeled by the ladies themselves, it’s sure to be a fun and practical read. I might just keep my copy in my closet!
We recently caught up with the stylish duo and got the scoop on their favorite Five Essential bags (Tote, Travel, Treasure, Trendy, and Clutch), read on for their picks of the season–
Hillary’s pick
Proenza Schouler Large Leather Cabas; Give me Proenza Schouler or give me death! Okay, maybe I’m not quite that much of a fanatic, but close! Like everyone else in the universe, I adore the PS1, swoon for the PS11, and this tan and black tote is practically perfect too.
Katherine’s pick
Reed Krakoff Auction I; The work bag – every working girl needs a large, classic, neutral-colored bag that can fit her laptop, notebook, and ipad. Reed Krakoff is my current favorite when it comes to this style.
Hillary’s Pick
Bottega Veneta Assenzio Nero Canvas Vernice Tote; A part of me will always adore J. Crew/Globe-Trotter’s Centenary Suitcase with Wheels–especially that bright yellow hue–but we’re talking about travel bags, not suitcases! I adore this Bottega Veneta Canvas Tote, especially in this insane acid green. What can I say: there’s something about me that just adores a bright travel bag–especially in a classic shape!
Katherine’s Pick
Balenciaga Raffia Tote; Chic beach bag – invest in one large summer tote that you can use year after year. You’ll feel chic at the pool or on the beach and it never goes out of style.
Treasure (Exotic)
Hillary’s Pick
Delvaux Tempete MM; This is basically what every handbag wants to be when it grows up. It’s the ne plus ultra of timeless bags, a total treasure, and so elegant. Will I ever own one? Signs point to no, but I can–and do–visit it at Barneys on a regular basis!
Katherine’s PIck
Celine Classic Python Large Flap Bag Primerose; Dainty day bag – when a clutch is not called for and your everyday bag is just too big for the occasion, you’ll need a lady-like shoulder bag. Go for a classic label like Chanel or Celine, in either a neutral color or something fun like this yellow version.
Trendy
Hillary’s Pick
Mulberry Small Bayswater Satchel in Oak Silky Snake Print; I wouldn’t necessarily call this bag “trendy” per se, but it is amazing and new and I adore it to pieces. The long, across-body strap is very current, while the beautifully structured flap-top shape has the perfect vintage-meets-ladylike look.
Katherine’s Pick
Alexander Wang Emile Tote Large With Vintage Hardware; Of the moment everyday bag – this is the bag you’ve been drooling over since it hit the runway, your big seasonal indulgence which you’ll wear everyday until you just can’t look at it anymore. Then you’ll store it until it feels fresh again.
Hillary’s Pick
Derek Lam Evie Clutch in Birch; Derek Lam makes some pretty killer bags and I’m particularly mad about his clutches. In addition to the unusual and cool rams’ head hardware, I’m quite appreciative of the bag’s lovely neutral color and lace-up trim.
Katherine’s Pick
Proenza Schouler black leather PS1 clutch; More youthful than a tiny structured evening bag, this clutch will add a tough, fashion-forward edge to any frilly party dress.

snobs for the snobs. how great. hope the book is better than most fashion style guides out there.
Why am I looking at an advertisement for WWWD? I prefer to read intelligent and creative BLOG POSTS, not suck-up mutual link love.
