Gucci Fiat 500 Collection

Gucci is one brand that is always up for a fun collaboration. To wit, Frida Giannini this week unveiled her design partnership with Lapo Elkann on a limited edition Fiat 500 (absolutely adorable!) that will launch in April for around $24,000. For those who love the project but don’t have the need for a car, there is the “500 by Gucci” collection of travel accessories, small leather goods, drivers, tracksuits, bombers, driver gloves, sunglasses and a watch that will launch at Gucci stores and online at www.gucci.com in April. As to be expected, the bags are all pretty utilitarian; they’re designed to be essentials for a driver so they are all roomy and without any tricks, natch. The black-on-black GG logo is printed on a slick nylon-like fabric–sporting the iconic red-and-green webbing–while a “500 by Gucci” logo tag is attached to each piece. They remind me of the bags Gucci came out with to celebrate their partnership with UNICEF and the opening of their Fifth Avenue flagship: fun collectibles if you have the extra cash.
