Gucci 1973 Tote Bag

When I first wrote about Gucci’s gorgeous 1973 suede tote back in August–the moniker named after the Florentine house’s archival logo–I knew it would be a hit. Now that the bag has hit stores and consumers have snatched it up, I was right: Jennifer Lopez, Pénelope Cruz, Heidi Klum and Eva Mendes have all been spotted with the double top handle tote, with Angelina Jolie spotted on Sunday with the carryall while in Paris. Gorgeous brass hardware and a somewhat less conspicuous GG logo aside, this bag is plenty roomy to hold everything. I like bags with as little fuss as possible, and this Gucci tote fits the bill. A simple front flap pocket hides a snap closure, with a double-zip closure inside keeps things secure. This is definitely a timeless bag that will continue to maintain its chic cachet for decades to come.

My God, this bag is HUGE! It looks like an overnight bag, only in suede, so not very practical.

I love this bag. I love it because it is huge…lol! I guess it all depends on your needs. I have 3 kids from ages 1 to 8. I carry snacks, cups, wipes, diapers, sanitizer, books, calendar, Ipod (multiple ones), amongst the many other things that you carry in a handbag. I NEED a big roomy bag. :) It’s always nice to carry all the crap around in style.

I think so long as the bag doesn’t swamp you then go as big as you can. Very nice bag, love the suede and colours. Beginning to not mind the old school logo, doesn’t look so bad on this bag.

Some of the Gucci 1973 models are currently on sale at the Gucci website. A very nice collection.

I like the logo too. It certainly makes me reconsider the brand overall. Aside from ithis bag being gimormous, I could never justify buying this because of the suede. I’d have it trashed in a week!

I’d be interested to know if any of these gals actually paid for the bag tho…
