Hermès Wicker Kelly Bag
By jim

Wicker_Kelly_hermes.jpg

As if the see-thru Kelly bag Jean Paul Gaultier showed at his final Hermès Spring 2011 show (it’s actually very thin crocodile!!!) wasn’t to be lusted after, check this out: a Kelly made from leather and wicker! Doesn’t it just make your everyday Kelly look plain boring? Get on the wait list now ladies! I had a close look at this bag and I have to warn you: it is pretty heavy (even when empty) and is very structured. The wicker is extremely strong and well bound. Perhaps the best part?

Wicker_Kelly_Hermes_1.jpgLook at how it opens! The traditional leather straps pull away on the side, but once you lift up the top handle part, the main part of the bag actually slides open on a metal brace to allow for easy access to your contents. Genius right? Note how the brown leather is securely woven into the wicker on top along the edges. This bag is guaranteed to become an instant classic. Amazing.

I don’t particularly like this one. Reminds me of a picnic basket. And, I had a diaper bag that opened up similar to this one. A little too much structure for me.

This is a great gift for a woman that very literally has everything. “Heavy”, however, is always a deal-breaker for me.

A nice piece for an Hermes collector, but it certainly wouldn’t tempt me.

Hermes is known for outstanding quality and design– but I agree that two words come to mind: picnic basket.

Would be a great addition to a collection and could look chic with the right outfit. Makes me think of a girl in the 50s on a bicycle. Kinda like Forrest Gump or the Notebook.

Oh I hate this. Let me tell you why:

1). I will be dreAming about this daily now

2). I cannot justify buying it even if my number came up on the list

    3). So see #1…

Breathtaking…I am partial to the Audrey Heburn 50s vibe though…

It looks like it would be too difficult to get into, never mind close when you’ve gotten what you need. I need a bag that I can close with one hand…. it is a little picnic basket like.
