Before I delve into the spring bags, I’d like to take a moment and shout with delight: THE LADY DIOR BAG IS BACK! Granted, it never really went away, but it needed a serious dose of rejuvenation after becoming seemingly an afterthought in the Dior leathergoods family. That’s why I was jumping for joy when John Galliano sent out a slew of Lady Dior bags in rich colors and chic textures for spring. Three new main styles this year are Dior Tahiti (the fringed), Delices (the roundish one), and Dior Navy (the sailor). While most of them were shown held in the hand, I’m glad John decided to show a few slung across the body; it’s a modern take on a classic and hopefully will lead to a new generation of young girls discovering the bag.

Lady Dior aside, it was kind of cool to see a sailor drawstring duffle bag on the runway. I like that it’s unisex and I think it’ll appeal to a certain woman (I remember seeing a Vuitton monogram version more than a decade ago). It’s got a great simplistic shape to it and I like that it’s not covered in logos. The other key bag shape is somewhat of a bulbous bag that is more practical than stylish. Truth be told it reminds me a bit of the Marc Jacobs Stam bag. It’s certainly a great everyday bag; the shoulder and over-the-shoulder straps are convenience bar none and it should become very popular with the stylish soccer mom set.
