Wendy Stevens: “Bags of Steel”- the new tough chic

Ask and you shall receive; you wanted unique bags and we found them– in the polished form of stainless steel and leather.  Wendy Stevens blends high tech with high fashion in her bags of steel (I’m wondering if they’re also bullet proof?!).

“The Bib” bag (above left) is what caught my eye at first, it is made of etched stainless steel with leather gussets (this makes them slightly more functional than a solid metal bag without any leather), it has double handles and a spring hinge closure (sounds like I’m shopping for kitchen appliance).  I’m so intrigued by this bag and can’t wait to go to LA to see it in person.  It is apparently large enough to hold wallet, glasses, cell phone and cosmetics.

Another standout bag from Wendy Stevens is “The City” bag, made of perforated stainless steel with a leather gusset around the entire piece and the season’s must have messenger strap.  You can probably swing it around like a weapon– this thing will can come in handy in self defense!  It has 2 external side pockets for cell phone (so cute!).  Serious tough girl chic!  What do you think of it?

These are cool, but Gloria Gerber has been making similar looking stainless steel bags for years now, for around $100.00 retail.

Wow! Gorgeous. I love the City Bag. Definitely elevates the vintagey satchel trend into chic, sleek and sophisticated.
