Kate Moss does not bite the hand who feeds her

kate_moss_glouchester_bag1.jpgKate Moss did not get a very warm reception for her Gloucester bag for Longchamp from our snob readers though she herself claimed that it was the perfect bag for daily use. Unlike other celebs who endorse/design lines that they wouldn't touch with a 6 inch stiletto, Kate has been true to her word and carrying various incarnations of her Gloucester bag-- even her daughter's nanny carries one!

But no matter, I'm still not sold on the Gloucester, it just lacks the oomph I expect from one of my favorite style setters. I mean it's not terrible for her freshman effort at bag design but as Man Snob Jim pointed out-- it could be from any contemporary line from the shelves at Bloomingdales.  I think it's Kate herself that make the bags look good, even the Soho clutch ($490 below on Kate) and the LADBROKE hoboseem cuter on Kate than in person (I went to Longchamp while in London this week).  That said, I do look forward to her future collections and hope they reflect the unique style that is Kate Moss.

What about you, have you warmed up to the Glouchester by Kate Moss for Longchamp yet?

  • I feel like it is comparable to Sofia Coppola's first effort for Louis Vuitton. Nice, serviceable, timeless bag without all the bells and whistles we have come to expect in bags nowadays. Lately, I am appreciating what most are calling 'boring' more and more. Just MHO.

  • It looks like a very functional bag, but I don't understand the point of the buckles (even in terms of ornamentation)...

Exactly! It's not really buckling anything... just sitting there like a cheap afterthought...

I love it. Great everyday bag and i like the buckles.

  • Don’t forget the things you once you owned. Treasure the things youcan’t get. Don't give up the things that belong to you and keep thoselost things in memory

  • Idon't think that when people grow up, they will become morebroad-minded and can accept everything. Conversely, I think it's aselecting process, knowing what's the most important and what's theleast. And then be a simple man

I looked at this bag in Bloomingdales last week. There isn't anything original about this bag. Buckles are buckles but you might as well carry the LV Speedy bag. The price is too high for something you can see being carried everyday of the week.

I have no desire to emulate a crackhead.

Very boring bag and certainly not worth the dough. Kate looks very cute in the red sweater jacket over striped top ensemble! Will I look like her if I wear the same thing? What do you think?

cuter bags at Target. but Kate is so gorgeous that an OTT bag is a distraction. if you haven't seen her in person it's sick how stunning she is.

  • I have this bag in black, I have had it for a month, and I love it. The leather is so soft that I cannot keep my hands off of it!

The major reason I selected this bag is because it offers a timeless design. I know that I can get away with using this bag in a couple of years. After all, after spending a large sum of money on a bag, I wanted something that would not be sitting in my closet in six months.

My favorite detail about this bag is that it does not have a big advertisement on the bag. I really hate how most bag companies over use there names in their designs!

The bag is large enough to pack everything you need and more. It is slightly bigger than your average L.V speedy bag.

Besides who wants a L.V speedy bag anyway, all the soccer moms and grannies have them. There are some brands that are really being over played right now.
