The highlight of our trip to Milan was attending the Bottega Veneta fashion show and hanging out at Bottega Veneta’s new Via Privata Ercole Marelli headquarters in Milan the following day (don’t tell Mr. Maier but Kelly and I were tempted to slip a few Bottega pillows in our bags when no one was looking!). Now it looks like we may have an excuse to return to our beloved Milan– for the Salone del Mobile in April– the largest home fair in the world! Bottega Veneta will be featuring a pop-up store, located on the fourth floor of its new headquarters, during the week-long celebration of Japanese
design and craftsmanship. Not only will you be able to shop for items like hand-cut Edo Kiriko glasses from a third-generation
craftsman Yasunori Kimura selected by Mr. Maier along with Seiichic Kamei, editor-in-chief of prestigious Japanese design and architecture magazine Casa Brutus, there is also a collection of limited edition bags (so now you understand why I want to go!). These bags, also inspired by Japanese workmanship and sophistication, will be available exclusively at the pop up store in Milan during the Salone del Mobile week. You will have to call your local Bottega Veneta boutique to find out how you can get your hands on these bags if you can not make it to Milan.
A highlight of the week will be a showcase of the winning furniture designs from the recent
student design competition sponsored by Bottega Veneta in collaboration with Tokyo University. An exhibition of
Japanese crafts and a tranquil, inviting tea service complete the exposition. “Putting together this special Salone del Mobile presentation has been
both an adventure and a pleasure,” says Bottega Veneta Creative Director Tomas Maier. “I am a great admirer of
Japanese craft and design so it was a privilege to work with Seiichi Kamei of Casa Brutus, and with the architect Manabu
Chiba and his students at Tokyo University.

Sounds like a great show. The bags are so pretty with the striping.
The bags are masculine looking, do you think a fashionable young guy can carry off the tote?
I AM TRULY INSPIRED BY YOU.
Man, what’s the concern with masculine vs. feminine? Carry what you love!!! The colors aren’t pink and white, of course a guy could carry that tote – EVEN slung over the shoulder – HORRORS!!!
The bags look very masculine too me. I wouldn’t be thrilled to wear any of them. Bottega Veneta usually pops up out of the crowd but these pieces are some mistake.
let`s think for a second…instead of these, wouldn`t a lv artsy look better on us, ladies?
The L.E. items look more masculine oriented to me, I would so get the messenger for the DH! What I like best about BV is that most of the bags have a real longevity. These Ink/Ebano, and Nero/Ebano bags are timeless.
