Rihanna in Givenchy Studded Tote Bag
By Bag Snob Sharon on February 26, 2010 11:52 am Sharon Feiereisen

I first came across the Givenchy Studded Tote Bag ($817) that Rihanna is sporting in the photo above at Maendler when I was in Munich a few weeks ago and I nearly bought it. I’m so glad I didn’t! What stopped me from getting it at the time (well aside from studs being completely over-played), was that it’s made out of fabric (the lining isn’t leather either), so while it looks chic, up-close it appears fairly cheaply made. Of course compared to the Western-esque awfulness that many of the other Givenchy bags have displayed lately, this bag is a stunner (not that, that is saying much!). Hard to believe that a brand that has delivered so consistently is beginning to sour a bit. All that aside, I’ve been seeing this bag all over the place lately — both in boutiques and on people’s arms. One of the reasons I buy a lot of my bags abroad when I go visit my family is because you’re often able to get styles that aren’t widely available state-side, I had no idea I would come back to NYC and see so many women with this style in FW tents!

    sometimes girl,

you really need to think carefully before you say something hurtful. To be honest I have never seen givenchy done fabulous bags until recently when ricardo took over. His bags are divine. True enough this bag is nylon, but can you imagine if it’s in leather? It will break your shoulders girl! Anyway price point it is really reasonable and as you said that you’ve seen many people carried it, it means that givenchy did it right yet again…. If you don’t like it many others do…so be kind and politically correct.

I didn’t say I didn’t like it…I said I liked it so much that I almost bought it! I just didn’t want to invest this much in a nylon bag. Also the studs aren’t as heavy as they look…
