Jil Sander Cervo Classic Satchel – Orange
By Bag Snob Tina on January 6, 2010 12:00 pm Tina Craig

jilsander_cervo_classic_satchel.jpgI don’t know if it’s my age or what but orange is suddenly my new shade du jour.  Yes, pink and purple are still dear to my heart but orange just feels more… sophisticated.  I was drawn to a pair of Pierre Hardy for Hermes platforms in orange the other day (jump for photo) and have been thinking about my orange bags (an ostrich birkin and an LV orange epi leather).  I realized how neutral it is; amazingly polished with creams, browns, greens, blues and yes, even the dreaded black (why should Halloween get to have all the fun with orange and black) and told myself I must use it more.  This bag is about a foot too large for me but I still love the birkin inspired details on such a casual chic doctor bag.  Sure the buckle strap will be difficult to maneuver when you’re power shopping but this is not a bag to be used in such circumstances.  It’s best for storing precious items on dreamy lazy trips where someone else is footing the bill so you don’t have to dig for your wallet. Jil Sander Cervo Classic Satchel

$1,595.00 at Barneys.

Are you guys serious? Every bag that you posted today was featured on Bag Poor a gazillion years ago! Maybe you should have hired someone from their staff?!?

If that bag poor is such a great site why are you on here trolling bag snob’s readers? Many bags will be featured on different blogs at different times. I doubt anyone here gives a shit what that bag poor michael st. james (who leaves comments daily to drive traffic to his pathetic blog) thinks. I’m surprised the snobs haven’t deleted all his lame attempts to link to his stupid site. The blog title is apropos though, poorly written, poorly produced. Thus poor all around.

Love the bag, weekender material, for sure!

Devany is right! New bags pop up on retail sites and the bloggers all feature it within days of each other. How each curate the bag is what differentiate the sites and for me, I enjoy reading what the snobs have to say.

Very very hermes in its appearance, no? That’s good, I guess, in so far as Hermes is good, but not very original.

Ooops, I spaced last night when i scheduled this and forgot to add the shoes. They’re up now. See? So fab!

And yes, bag is very Hermes-ish but still has it’s own appeal.

An ok bag, sensibly priced, just right for you to tote around with ,if you have a serious mission. My tours are mostly casual, so sadly I´ll have to pass this one.

I liked the bag on first impression, but then thought the same thing regarding functionality. Also, maybe a little too “Hermes” wannabe?

saying this is too “hermes-ish” is like bashing anything with a chain strap as being a Chanel ripoff. Sure they are paying their dues to the birkin, but I think the doctor satchel shape and the triangular flap lends a more casual supple look to the leather. it looks soft!

I like the silouhette and the color, but I am not real sure about how you actually get into the bag. If it’s not practical in my daily life then I don’t use it. I like to think of myself as a bag aficionado, but I am really not sure if Jil Sander has solidified herself as a legitimate bag designer to warrant the price tag.

The shoes look a little old lady to me.

I bought a bag that closed like similar to this a few years ago. It was made by Yohji Yamamoto, distressed black leather. I loved the look of the bag, but it was difficult to get in and out of. There was no option, as there was not a shoulder strap, that would have helped.Having said that, I still like the look of the bag.

Tina, you have told us that you do not like LV-bags and that you are not LV customer but you own LV orange epi leather bag! You have been bashing their bags constantly and now you have at least one LV – bag ?? !!
