Searching for the ultimate messenger bag?  As Eddy often told Patsy, this is the ONE sweetie darling!   I have to admit I am not a fan of messenger bags nor do I own one (unless you count my Hermes Lindy) but traveling is so cumbersome with birkins, especially when toting a 5 year old boy!  So for my 18 day European multi-city (Milan-Florence-Madrid-Lugano, I'm exhausted just thinking of the 7 people posse we are taking with us!) trip coming up in Feb, I decided it was time to get a lightweight and functional (yet uber stylish) messenger bag. I was certain such a bag did not exist, as I combed through my favorite bag blog for inspiration (yes, that would be this one) and could not find any that matched my criteria.  I'm a firm believer in fate, however, and came upon this rock star worthy messenger/shoulder tote from Givenchy while shopping with my new partners-in-crime (Judy from Atlantishome.com and her daughter Jane from Seaofshoes.com).
I'm sorry, did Ricardo design this with me in mind!?!?  It was as if someone picked my brain and created the perfect messenger bag of my dreams!  My number one criteria is that the body strap must be removable (and it is!) because I do not like the sloppy look of multiple bags dangling from a single bag.  Messenger bags are pretty generic so I decided mine must have one single interesting feature (and it does!)-- check out the watch band inspired chain strap (kinda like a Rolex for your bag)!  Triple bonus for the functionality of the front double zippered outer pocket (fits plane tickets and passport perfectly-- I included a photo of my Kelly longue wallet in it to show you the size!) and three large interior pockets (one of which has an elastic edge so your cell won't fall out!).  The bag is also really lightweight and molds around my body when worn cross body (so important for a small girl like me).

After consulting with Judy, we decided black was most striking on me (although I think the beige will look lovely on a blonde!).  But I didn't want to jump into something I'd regret later, so I did what I advise all of our readers to do.  I put the bag on hold and went home to think about it (and to do more research on line).  When I found myself thinking about the bag the next couple of days, I knew it was meant to move in with me.  I picked it up yesterday and am very pleased with my first bag purchase of 2010!  Mine is a soft distressed black leather, not as shiny as the one on the Barneys website-- so call Korey if you want one like mine (see below) (469)221-4819
