Bulgari Chandra Bag

Is it just me, or are jewelry houses itching to get a share of the multi-billion dollar pie that is the handbag industry? Not many Place Vendôme jewelers have had success with their attempts into the category--Cartier's stylish Marcello is the one exception it seems--but Bulgari may have something on its hands. I recently checked out their new Chandra bag line--which Julianne Moore is featured prominently with in Bulgari's spring campaign--while up at the showroom and I'm impressed. I particularly love the leather-and-chevron-canvas version (pictured here) available in two sizes, both of which can slip over the shoulder or the latter, which features a shoulder strap. The leather is smooth yet sturdy, the canvas makes it incredibly lightweight and it sports just enough subtle accent hardware to make a statement. The bag, which also features discreet adjustable straps on either side, closes with a top spring lock and has two c onvenient inner pockets. Its most prominent feature, however, is the flap-over leather buckle with two affixed Bulgari light gold dials (reminiscent of the brand's iconic Bulgari Bulgari watch) on full display. Take this on your next Roman holiday!

glad you did a review on bulgari cos I love them. Esp. their purple ostrich clutch. I love the ad too.

  • I haven't seen bags from Bulgari. I'll definitely check them out now. These that you have featured are very nice. Thanks for clueing me in!!

  • Wow, the wonders of photoshop. First, I LOVE Julianne Moore...I have since Boogie Nights. I just saw her in A Single Man and there's a scene where she is putting on makeup in only her bra. Her entire body is covered in freckles...wow, again, the wonders of Photoshop.

Thanks for mentioning Marcello by Cartier. How come it has never been reviewed in your site? It is so stylish and totally timeless. What do you think?

Hi Alexandra! You read my mind! The Cartier Marcello is coming out in a couple of new versions for spring. As soon as I've previewed them, you'll be the first to see the review!

  • These bags look like they came from some other planet. I´ll pass.

  • I purchased the medium tote/clutch by Marcello de Cartier in December. It is in beige leather. Very nice and stylish. The tote folds into a clutch. Looks great with a white shirt.

  • I JUST saw this bag in black leather at (of all places) the Bulgari boutique in the Atlanta airport, and was very impressed. Beautifully made and great design. It's on my short-list!

  • I just saw this bag today...and it is a must have in everyones accessory collection.
