Serena van der Woodsen in Mulberry's Bayswater Suede Bag

I'm a little upset with Gossip Girl at the moment; not only have the story lines gotten increasingly unrealistic (and this is coming from someone who grew-up going to an Upper East Side private school and graduated from college just a few years ago), but Blake Lively's character Serena keeps wearing the most RIDICULOUS outfits! Slutty cocktail dresses in the middle of the day!? No. Just NO. Given this you can imagine my surprise when, in character, Lively was photographed on set in the above outfit sporting the Mulberry Bayswater suede bag ($995). Versatile, age-appropriate, and well-priced, my only beef with the bag is the crocodile-stamped suede which I think cheapens it a bit.

What do you think about Serena's Mulberry? Snob or Slob?

  • You've got me on this post. Evening dresses worn during the day are stemming from fashion editor Anna Della Russo and she is fabulously original. The embossed croc isn't what cheapens the bag... it's the material suede that does.

  • I'm a suede lover but the problem inherently is that it's so difficult to keep pretty so for that price of it I'd rather buy something that would be more lasting. I do love the color.

  • I really love the colour and shape, but as Isabelle said I would find it very hard to keep it looking nice, which would probably mean I would never use it through fear of it getting dirty!

  • This is gorgeous. Actually, Anna Wintour was spotted with this, but in the East-West version. Very versatile, very gorgeous!

  • Fashion is only the attempt to realize art in living forms and sncial intercourse.

  • I like it, don't love it...but the style is so reminiscent of the Hermes Kelly (no offense, Hermes) that it doesn't strike me as being innovative or interesting in design. I'm not a fan of suede; I don't have money to waste on bags that only last one season before becoming utterly dirty.

  • Honestly, Mulberry Bayswater can do no wrong.. and in the perfect grey? A dream bag. Definitely snob. And what's wrong with you people that can't keep your bags clean? Do you go throwing your $1,000 bag on the floor of a movie theater with sticky popcorn? NO! You take good care of it. Same goes with your white handbags.

  • This is a great looking bag. But I agree with someone who posted earlier; the bag would be a bear to keep clean. I love the style, but would rather have it in leather rather than suede.

  • yum...love everything about it...including the subtle gator stamping.
dreamy dove color, too. and how about her jacket...me want one of those too!

  • The bag shape is OK, the suede would get dirty so I would not buy it

  • Does anyone know where I can find Mulberry bags in Miami???
