Black Beauty: Bottega Veneta Waxed Python Bag

Obsessed does not begin to describe how I feel about this Bottega beauty. It has all the elements of a sophisticated classic while being fresh and modern. I saw this at the Bottega Veneta showroom back in September and have not stopped thinking about it. The waxed python renders the scales smooth and soft, not dry and scaly. This is a major issue with many of my bag snob friends, they love the look of python but not the feel of it!  The bag is pieced together seamlessly down the center so it appears to be one giant piece of python skin. You could call this a frame bag but it's not rigid in the traditional way, a wire through each side allows it to keep its shape but you can also adjust it accordingly. Lastly, the bottom is wide and flat, so that your things aren't squished together in the center when you pick it up. A perfect bag? Pretty damn close. At Bottega Veneta for $3,400

  • Finally a bag that is a joy for the eye! I´m sure the waxing does improve this bag much. I would accept this one any time. Thank you.

  • OO la la!!!

  • Congrats, Tina! I love the nero waxed python bags! I am thinking of getting this one- what's your impression on this style? Would appreciate your input!

  • Love the zigzag stitching and the ginormous python scales. I'm just not a fan of the shape. Still a stunning bag and the price isn't bad...or have I just become desensitized over the years.

    This is very good!

  • i love this bag! it has a zipper!!

  • OMG this one is so so so ugly looking! It looks so old and boring. In fact, none of my male friends find bottega attractive.. they said don't understand why the girls want to spend such a fortune for the granny looking bags!

    • You are an idiot if you buy bags that men would like. Buy what you like, is he carrying it for you?
I love Bottega and think they are the most understated and elegant bags.

This is a bag I would carry. LOL I'm getting older now so maybe it's an old lady bag would I would love it.

  • I'm not feeling it. I don't love it and for that price it's gotta be love or fill a real need. Maybe it looks better in person. The San Marcos from fall was a real stunner. I also like the resort clutches in bright colors a lot. ThAnks for the preview. I'm also curious about the new accessories for Celine so please keep updating us.

  • Divine! it's got the feel of a Birkin.

This beautiful Bottega Veneta handbag is one of the many reasons why Tina and Kelly need to be doing the blogging. This handbag is the prime example of the beautiful bags that I look to find through BagSnob. Bravo Tina!

I am speechless! This bag is the ultimate in sophistication. Generally I do find Bottega bags a bit on the bland side only because I tend to go for lots of hardware on my favorites - i.e. the padlock on the Paddington and the giant studs on Balenciaga motorcycle bags. But this one tells the world that you have lived a life!

OMG! This is my kinda swank. Utterly chic and in the moment. This is just what Bottega Veneta has always been about:form follows function without sacrificing one iota of versatility and charm.

Total snooze fest ala Nancy Gonzalez, Devi Kroell, Carlos Falchi etc. Maybe it's too chic or swanky for me, but this bag needs lots of zazzing up....toots.

There are a few silly Designers that design under the notion that because it's such a "beautiful skin", it gives them the freedom to slap 2 handles on a rectangle and call it elegant or simple.

That's a croc, pardon the "exotic" pun, but this is just plain lazy. Nancy Gonzalez has been doing it for eons, we don't need anybody else glogging up the airwaves with more of the same.

How many simple square/rectangle tote/clutches does one need? After the 1st one in black, you don't need any more????
