J'adore CHANEL, and the Spring 2010 show this week at the Palais was nothing short of spectacular (read about it here on Garance Dore). Theatrics aside, we took a close look at the bags and found a few refreshing additions to the classic styles and a few that just made no sense! The multi embellished 2.55 versions were safe and as expected and the oversized 2.55 messenger was fabulous. Wicker basket styles with ribbons interwoven were not my favorite but older CHANEL devotees do enjoy them in the warmer months. And the 80's style bronze leather bucket with pressed camillias?? Just plain bad. Now for the really bizarre, the giant bird/flower/fruit basket thing (below center)-- wow! What do you think?
These bags are ridiculous! Carrie Bradshaw couldn't even pull them off, except for the 2.55 covered in chain details and a flower brooch...of course!

Some of these are over the top, but runway shows are often over the top. Chanel classics are just always great. I think the bronze bag is fun.
I know this is totally wrong of me, but that chicken concotion just makes me happy. I'm certain I wouldn't buy it, but it's fun to look at. As for the others, I like the messenger and the 2.55 (to the left of the chicken) but that's about it.

These batch of bags looks really bad. They are doing a great disservice to the elegant Madame CoCo Chanel.

would make perfect gifts for grandma. I guess the era of catering to the young crowd is over?
It's my first time to know the Chanel spring 2010 bags. As for my knowledge, the bags are quite different from the previous models.To tell the truth,the season's collections don't attract me as the spring-summer collection on 2009.
I'm usually a big Chanel fan, but there's nothing here that appeals to me at all... as for the bird thing, I think Coco is rolling in her grave!
