I'm all about the clutch now. I am trying to simplify my life and with that, a whole new thinking on bags. Why am I always carrying around so much stuff? Why do my bags need to be so heavy? What the heck is in my wallet that requires it to be so big? I am now using a zip coin wallet that has a few cards, my driver's license, cash and change. Lipgloss, phone, keys and maybe a small tube of sunblock - that's all I need, all of which fits nicely in a clutch. So, my new "bag lifestyle" requires that I get an investment clutch that will take me through years without consideration of trends. The Bottega Veneta woven cluth in karung has divided interior compartments for organizing long term use (not just one night). The karung is easy to maintain (versus leather which gets stained and cannot be wiped down) and the subdued Grape is neutral enough, yet adds happy color for an all black or gray Fall wardrobe. Like I said, this is an investment piece so the price concurs, but you might not. At Net-a-Porter $2,950.
Totally insane price, and it's really not that exciting. Quite old lady.
as and avid clutch user, my concern with this clutch is that.... imagine you're lining up in a supermarket, with kids in tow and a whole cart of food. Cashier asks for payment... as this is an accordion-style clutch, the possibility of opening too wide and things dropping all over the conveyor belt/kids/food/floor seems very real to me. Maybe I'm thinking too much? :p
Taking a clutch of any kind to supermarkets, is a bad idea.
Actually this was the only interesting new arrival on NAP on Monday. Were I in need of a clutch, I might consider this one because it looks simple and classic and the color is fine.
I have been looking for something similar but with a detachable shoulder strap, any suggestions?

I really don't like clutches. The thought of having to carry it in my hand at all times makes me cringe. Try going through racks of clothes with your clutch under you arm-ugh, so annoying!

It's a little pricey but the quality is so good. It's worth it.
If this one has detachable shoulder strap that would be more versatile, can serve as clutch and bag as well.

and on the name itself, karung is a malay word, it means 'sack'.
Karung here refers to the a type of watersnake, which is the skin used on the clutch. It's a rather hardy exotic skin. But I don't quite get the price as Karung is suppose to be more afforadable.
I think this is lovely, especially the color. I agree with those who've remarked that it would be better with a detachable strap. I don't tend to carry clutches because I'm worried I'll drop it or leave it lying around somewhere. I need my bag attached to my body...LOL!
Kelly, I'm so impressed that you can down-size and simplify. I used to carry small bags, but now I don't know what I did before I had a bag big enough for a book, my daytimer, maybe a magazine, my sunglasses, hand sanatizer and lotion, and my waterbottle. You inspire me!
It just looks fat and it doesn't have anything in it....I'm with the others is saying I hate carrying a clutch. Need some sort of strap.
