SNOB Exclusive: Bottega Veneta Cruise 2010 Preview
By Bag Snob Kelly on September 24, 2009 2:00 pm Kelly Cook

We are so excited to share the latest from the House of Bottega, Cruise 2010 bags! Each season we find more reasons to love Bottega Veneta, one of the few design houses that offer truly modern and edgy interpretations of its timeless styles. We previewed the Cruise 2010 collection at the showroom last week and Kelly and I almost got into a wrestling match over the samples. My favorite is the amazing Truffle Soft Crocodile Fume Tote with grommets on the sides and handles ($13,500 above left). I love that the grommets are subtle yet make a really powerful statement. So rock and roll but still so Bottega!

The iconic Knot clutch also gets an updated make over for Cruise in fabulous Ring Lizard with Oxydized Silver Knot.  Available in Fluo Yellow, Fluo Pink, and Fluo Orange for $1,980 each.  (Jump for more!)

Bottega Veneta also at Net-a-porter.combvcruiseclutches1.jpg

Red continues strong into Cruise 2010, as seen by the “Fever” collection from Bottega. The fabulous Fever Soft Crocodile Fume large Veneta Bag above is incredibly and subtly detailed, even the edges are finished in crocodile trim!  Price: $19,500

The classic Nero Brushed Calf Large Cabat in Fever (left $5,900) is a great travel bag, Kelly and I both found reasons to own it.  Also comes in blue (Anemone) for Cruise Price: $6,900

The Fever Python Bag is a variation on the Cabat style but has tiny grommet details that you can’t see in the photo.  Kelly put her name on this I believe (well, we actually put our name on everything in the showroom!  It’s going to be a nice Christmas :)

Price: $4,900

This time my choice of these would be the black one. Pricey, yes, but then again this bag wouldn´t age in style ever.

Yes, the Bottega styles are ageless, but how do you keep it looking ageless? The woven edges get worn down, and leather conditioner doesn’t restore them at all. Any advice?

    Hi Tina:

I want to buy a new wallet. I purchased the Hermes Kelly wallet and love it, but as any bagsnob, I want to buy another designer’s wallet. Can you name a few that you like??

    Thanks.

    Hi Michelle,

I have many wallets but love my Kelly Longues the best (in violet and etoupe!) Bottega makes a great wallet and the leather is so soft that you can stuff it really full without it bulging weird.

Chanel has a good one, if you like larger wallets. It’s their classic french purse one.

Oscar de la Renta has a really amazing wallet that I just got, it has a pen holder inside! It’s in python and only $790.

    These are my preferred wallets.

Love the BV cabat – just a nice all around tote to carry to work, travel or just out for shopping as well!!! OMG, some of the prices you mentioned are just as comparable to Hermes!!! Hard to decide now…but definitely the Cabat is a nice addition to any bagsnob collection.

I have had a Prada wallet for several years and it is still in pristine condition. I also have a Bottega wallet in a bright green and orange that I use during the Spring and Summer. I prefer the full zip wallets since then I can take them to the gym.
