YSL Spiral Clutch

I’m kind of on the fence about this clutch. My initial thoughts are that it is childish and contrived. A spiral notebook looking clutch? Ehh, too much of a shtick for YSL. Then thinking back of the zipper clutch, the same could be said about that but it was a wildly huge hit, especially among celebs. But this definitely does not have the same edge. It is an ingenious twist on hinging the flap, nobody has ever done this before and it works well – it flips completely back so when open, it stays open. I do like the proportions, it is 9 1/2″ wide so you get the full effect of what this clutch is about, if it were tiny it would look stupid. And the price is just right, for a YSL at $395, it might be the flash you need in a black clutch that retires at the end of the season. At Saks Fifth Avenueicon.

The clutch really opens up well. The price is not bad, but then again, this is not a clutch you would wear from day to day. Maybe something for those, who already have about all.

I actually love this and think its very chic- like something a lois lane type female reporter might carry. It’s a great price for YSL!

Lets take the YSL label off and we are left with?? $400 is cheap compared to their usual price point, but that’s not the comparison I like to use. I would prefer to ask, is it worth $400.00 and the answer is “hell nah”

Does anyone know if the designer bags on overstock.com are authentic?

BAD BAD BAD! that’s my immediate reaction to this bag..i agree with Fahsionaire, wo the YSL label, it would not be on your radar…with the label, it is clearly NOT worth the money!!! YUCK! I would not even give this to my daughter! MAJOR SLOB!!!

  10. hmm.. this is the kind of thing i would think was funny and interesting for $60 at a kooky little boutique (like some “wallets” i recently saw in tokyo, made from a split open cassette tape held together with a zipper) but wouldn’t actually buy, especially not for $400 from ysl :)

I think it’s actually really smart and chic. It’s a different way to incorporate hardware that isn’t faux-punk or tired like chains and studs. It’s quite uniqe, and really captures the spirit of “edgy” more than knockoffs of 80s fashion, in a cheeky but adorable way.

    Snob, for sure.

i would hesitate to purchase bags from overstock.com

if you would like to get a good price on a designer handbag either try yoogiscloset.com or handbagcrew.com

the problem with overstock.com is yes there indeed will be authentic bags on there but you don’t know for sure. like any knockoff it can easily be spotted as a fake or you have to inspect it. i wish you luck on your search tho darling :]

  14. I am a YSL purse addict and must admit I also had mixed feelings for this clutch… unless it comes in another color! And also, can patent please retire for a few more years? I’m very much missing real leather in YSL’s collection, though the croc embossed suede is definitely a keeper.

I love your blog! and all the YSL details, it’s because of bagsnob that I snagged my Majorelle in cobalt blue at first sight!
