Tod’s D-Styling Bauletto

Before everyone drones on about how this is sooo boring, consider that it is a Tod’s and they are known for the subtle and classic appeal. OK, fine, it is boring. But an immaculately made bag that is timeless and full of function definitely has its merits. And for a lot of women, that what they want, a bag that lasts forever and goes with everything. Well, this surely will and does. I saw this bag at Fall Preview and I instantly fell in love for the color. It is a warm gray, which they are calling Tan, but it is definitely more ashy than fleshy. And the simplicity is kind of mesmerizing, like a Valextra, looking at it puts you in a trance. It is so soothing and nice. Nothing wrong with a bag I’ll use well into grandmotherhood. At Saks Fifth Avenueicon for $1445. Or call my good friend Carla at the Beverly Hills store at 310.285.0591.

Funny, Kelly, how you mentioned Valextra, because when I glanced over this handbag, I though it was Valextra.

The simplicity may be interpreted as ‘boring’ but, I digress. The interesting way the handles are stitched together, as well as the body, gives this bag a good oomph of creativity without the addition of hardware (and, therefore, weight).

The colour reminds me more of ‘ecru’ rather than a tan, though (ecru has a tinge of grey, which you have so keenly picked up on, Kelly).

All-in-all, I love this bag. Love. Definitely something you would use into grandmotherhood (and beyond, no doubt. Write it into your will, I say!).

Do you know what other colours this is available in? And can this fit over the shoulder?

Not a big fan of Fendi. This is just a puffed up version of their baguette. No likey.

    Love, Kelly

It cannot fit over your shoulder. I tried to put it on my shoulder and it is only hand-held.

The bag looks timeless, well made and I feel ok with the price. But Kelly is right. The bag looks boring.

Doesn’t it come with an adjustable (and presumably detachable) messenger strap?

I love this bag and I ordered one this summer after you posted the pictures on this website. Steve at the So Coast store said they only got one in this color and I get it on Monday. I’ll post again after it comes. He said it will be coming in later in black and brown.

Thanks Kelley for the heads up on this bag. Every collection needs a great, classic bag not in black.

The bag is a little boring, but the color would make it easy to accessorize with any outfit.

I got my Tods bag today and I love it. A lot of you think it is boring but it’s not. It’s a classic bag that would go with any outfit. The shape reminds me of my old Vuitton Speedy bag. The double handles fit snugly on my shoulder but it also has the shoulder strap that can be attached. It really is a gorgeous bag with a lot of style. The color is a muted tan, not as grey as taupe. Hope my description helps.

Marcia, thanks for your update and I am glad you are happy with your bag! What size did you get? The reason I ask is I am wondering about the size difference between the two? I am about 5’4″ with a petite frame and not sure if one size over the other would work better for me.

Enjoy your bag, it is a classic beauty!

I bought the larger size, 16″, with the optional shoulder strap. My daughter is 5’4″ and this size would be too big for her. It is a beautiful bag with the stitching and the elegant handles. This bag looks much better in person. I hope this helps.

I was lucky enough to nab this classic in a stunning dove-gray color just today at the Tod’s in Chicago. I agree that the bag is much better in person than on screen. It’s one that will never go out of style and that can be worn with literally anything! The saleswoman said that they will most likely sell out early so if you can, grab one now!

There are 5 pictures of this bag in the Sept issue of Elle magazine. The blue croc is to die for – the price probably is too. Jessica Alba is carrying the tan bag in one of the pictures. I think it is going to be a HOT bag this season.

    Hi,

This is a very classic bag. And saw it in Tod’s store in SG and have tried carrying it, and I can only agree, it looks nicer in person, and even feel very nice carrying one. Will purchase this in black in a week time.
